Congratulation on your new home. WE just sold a new home and are quite happy especially since it's a buyers market and there are quite a few homes for sale to choose from.
My two Yorkies are trained on potty pads and outside both. It works wonderfully for us, for when we go into motels and don't relish going out in the dark or the rain and so on, and also in the motor home when going outside isn't all that easy. If we have appointments where we can't take them along, then we leave them with run of the house and a couple of pads down in the kitchen area just in case they need to go. I block the doggie door. I won't let them have access to the outside unsupervised at any time. Anyway, the pads and also outside works perfectly for us.

I'm not really worried about Coco, it's more Rocco, she's fine. I'm going to put them on a feeding schedule, so I won't lay food down for them other than breakfast in the morning, and dinner when I get home. I think if I stop free feeding them I can better control their potty schedule too. Is that true?

I trained Meeka to hold it as long as she can by using a crate. I would come let her out at lunch and slowly take lunch later, making her stay in there longer. By 4 months she has been holding it the whole time I am gone at work, so about 9 hours

My Zoey is fully potty trained and was at 6 months. I'm a teacher so I had all summer to train her and when I went back to work in September she was home from 7:15-3:30 every day and no accidents. That's 8 hours and 15 minutes. While I do leave food and water out, I don't think she eats or drinks, she knows her own limits...very smart.

My 4 month old baby boy however is having a little harder time understanding he can't go in the house He still has another month and 1/2 before I go back to work but if he doesn't hold it he will continue to be in his cage while I'm at work.

sooooo it's possible just have to work at it.

They learn to hold. Keep in mind that Luu is now 8 1/2 months. I get up at six and walk Lulu and she eats her breakfast. I walk her one last time beore I leave for work and take the kids to school. She then gets walked at three when they get home and then again at five thirty when I get home with no accidents. It helps that I have her on a feeding schedule. Lulu eats in the morning and then again at around six at night. She is a tiny thing and we have never had problems. Matter of fact yesterday I got held up at work and she was actually at home for almost eleven hours and when I got home I was expecting to find a mess...none in site. She held it. As soon as I got there though she was like mommy I need to go potty and took off outside so fast that it wasn't funny...she literally was a blurr. I was expecting an accident or two...but she did me proud. She is an awesome baby.

FYI I would actually keep baby away from the white carpets...that definitely should be a room that is off limits. Once they go on that carpet you can't ever really expect to get it fully cleaned....because the pee seeps into the padding under the carpet. I am now getting back around to putting down some throw rugs in the house (hubby is happy as a clam).

I just don't want their room smelling like poo or to have them pee/poo alll over the carpet in their room or in the rest of the house when they get access. Right now they go outside and on pee pads, I just want to find a way to make them more accident free, especially Rocco.

Oooh bugger. I would change out that when I had the money if I were you. It's not only baby accidents but human accidents. Shoot I have no idea how much has been spilled in the five and a half years we have been in our house. I have three children (3, 8, 11) s o you know that there are spills. Plus just in general walking on it. You should institute the no shoes rule in the house...I used to do that when we had wall to wall. Now we put in Hardwood and it's easier maintenance. Good luck. I think that with the scheduled feeding it will get a lot better...I know it did for us.

Congrats on the new house!!!!!!!! It will be best if you can limit them to a specific area of the house and if that area had some kind of easily cleanable tile. I would probably still put down a wee wee pad or two anyway, cause even the best trained pup will still have an occasional accident.

Max can hold it, he's also pad and outside trained, and I caught him peeing on the rug just yesterday. Once that smell gets into the rug, there are going to be accidents from time to time.

I say, enjoy your white carpeting for as long as you can. Once you have kids, and the dogs get to it, you'll be glad to have no carpeting.

That is a good suggestion and also get a good steamer...lol. Carpets are so hard to keep clean.

I had carpeting upstairs only when I got my dogs....and had to remove that. Then as we redid the flooring downstairs I put down nice inexpensive (thank god) area rugs....they got wizzed on and no matter all I cleaned and steamed (used commercial cleaners, enzymatic cleaners and even vinegar and water as suggested) they still went back. They seem to love the cushioned effect under their bum. I finally gave up and dumped out all the new area rugs. Now that Lulu seems to be 99% house trained I will entertain getting some new ones again to finish the final touches of decorating the house.

Think positive! You have a gorgeous new house, an even MORE gorgeous future hubby and two babies who love you to death! What would be so bad about placing a few pee pads around their room while you're gone during the day? If they DO have accidents, then in the future look into taking up the carpet in there and putting down tile or wood. When you have company over, just close the door to that room.
