Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Barking dog shot, killed, outside its home this is a BAD area so its not much of a shock the poor baby tho !! Barking dog shot, killed, outside its home Posted by Staten Island Advance July 06, 2007 8:46AM Categories: News, Port Richmond A Port Richmond couple's Yorkshire Terrier died Tuesday after being shot, possibly for barking too much, according to a published report. Marie and Michael Buckley's dog, Eddie, was sitting on the stoop of their home when the canine suddenly let out a yelp and ran through the house into the bathroom. When the couple checked on the dog, he was lying down and bleeding profusely. "It's just horrible," Michael Buckley told CBS Channel 2 News. "He came in like he was shot out of a cannon. A neighbor heard three pops." The dog was taken to an area veterinarian, who extracted a pellet that pierced the dog's diaphragm and liver from its intestine, but attempts to save the dog's life were unsuccessful. According to the report, an anonymous note was left in the Buckleys' mailbox a month ago complaining of Eddie's barking. The author of the unsigned note claimed that someone would turn on a car alarm whenever the dog barked. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating the incident and the Buckley's have hired a private investigator to find out who shot the dog. http://blog.silive.com/advanceupdate...ed_outsid.html |

| I had a cat that was shot with a pellet gun. I was petting him and noticed a "hole" in his side. We got an x-ray and found a pellet 1/2" from his heart. The vet said it would do more damage to remove it. He lived to be very old and died last year. I never found out who shot him. There are 2 young boys who live next door. I always suspected them...How could someone be so cruel as to shoot another persons pet? Evil!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG - the more I read online the sadder I get. What is WRONG with people these days ? shooting a dog for barking ? The owners should have done more to keep the little dog from barking so much since they were threatened in a letter about it - but OMG - why would someone shoot a little dog like that ? That pooooor baby. |

| This just makes me sick to my stomach! I hope the find the killer and he/she is punished severely. I can't imagine the pain the owners are feeling. How devastating and tragic!

| Animal cruelty is always a sad and disgusting thing. I do have to wonder why the owners didn't do anything about it if they knew their dog was barking incessantly. Barking dogs are one of the biggest complaints to HOA's, and can be a huge nuisance. I'd say they should have at least attempted to fix that situation. I'm not saying it was their fault, but if they did nothing about the problem, they were probably poor owners. |

| That is absolutely HORRIBLE! I can't believe that people could do such a horrible thing to an innocent animal who can not defend itself. I hope karma reaches these horrible individuals before any YT lovers get a hold of them!

| Cruel The person responsible should be shot with a pellet gun. How can someone be so cruel as to shoot a defenseless animal. Jay

| Not to say that it was the owner's fault but if there was a previous 'threat' then they should have attempted to solve the problem. Constant barking that can be heard by neighbors in my neighborhood is a major problem that HOA deals with. A neighbor once had to remove his dog from his property for barking so much or else he would be ticketed and fined for violation of his deed. But for a tiny dog, or any dog at all, barking is not a crime. Why kill something that is so lovable and harmless? Why not talk it out and see if there are possible resolutions? I hope they find the person that did this. |

| Poor dog. I hope the person who shot him is found out and goes to jail. That is why I never leave my dogs out unless I'm with them. They don't really bark, but I still don't like to leave them out.
