Sacramento Bee Online Yorkie puppy buying scam - Warning There is a Cherie Jenkins from Chico buying and reselling for profit Yorkies using the SacBee. They are running a scam buying at your price, then re-listing them online Sac Bee for double what they paid and representing themselves as the breeder. That is fraud and the pups are getting sick waiting for buyers to pay their asking price. Unsuspectingly, I purchase one of the sick puppies only to find the real breeder was from Oregon. This was disclosed to me when Cherie mailed me the AKC registration papers (she knew if she provided them when I made the purchase I would question the name difference on the papers) and the real AKC registered breeder was listed on the papers. I contacted the real breeder and they had no idea that Cherie was brokering their puppies without a license and committing fraud and was furious that their babies were getting ill. She told them that she purchased the 3 she bought for family members. A police report has been filed against this person and Animal Control has also been notified. The Sac Bee has pulled her sales ads. Please, do not sell them your babies. They will resell them but while they have them, they are getting sick. I have $1500 in vet bills to prove that. If you have any questions or want to validate what I am saying. We are trying to cut off her puppy sources. Please, please don't sell this person your babies!

Did you see this lady in person. Is she a blond? I wonder if she is somehow connect to Zekes disappearance because they are not too far from Modesto. Does she have papers on all the dogs she is selling or does she sell some unpapered?

I was thinking the same thing. Because of the ever-increasing popularity of the Yorkie, the whole "scam" thing relating to them seems to be so out of control.

It is worth looking into just in case. Shirley does this lady have a website or something? How did you hear about her?

Puppy Scam She is in her late 20s early 30s and has redish blong hair. She paints on her eyebrows in a redish brown and has a little diamond nose piercing. Her husband (i think) is an african american same age or older and he drove a maroon Expedition. I am not sure if they would steal puppies but maybe, at this point I wouldn't put anything past them, they are scam artist and very good at what they do. When I had asked her for the AKC registration papers she told me they hadn't come in the mail yet and she would send them to me as soon as she got them. With the baby being 9 wks old... I thought, OK, that's possible but later found out when the papers did come that the reason she told me she didnt' have them is because the real breeder is listed on them and I would have questioned that, not made the purchase and she would have lost out on $1700. Yes, I paid $1700 (the baby was so so cute ) when she purchased it from the real breeder one week before for $875. I have been a yorkie mommy for the better part of 23 yrs+ and she had all the right answers. They have been doing this for some time as the real breeder told me they bought a puppy from her about a 1 1/2 months prior to the one she sold me. When the breeder questioned why she needed another puppy, where did the one she bought before go...the girl told her that her sister fell in love with the 1st one and so she let her have it. That is why she wanted to buy another one. She has more than one source as the breeder that sold her the pup I bought cut her off and yet a day later she placed a new ad in the SacBee with 2 more 10 wk olds for sale. The Bee pulled that ad but who is to stop her from placing them using a different identity. If they are making their living off this, they will do anything. If you would like to discuss this further.. please, email me at shirley.cooper@homeq.com. I haven't read your thread about your missing baby but I will as soon as I answer this. I am so, so sorry! I know my babies are the love of my life and I would be devastated!

My neighbor, also a yorkie mommy was trying to ease my heartache because on March 27th, my 8 yr old "Angel" was mauled and killed by a neighbors German Shepherd. She answered an ad in the SacBee, a local newspaper and called the girl and made arrangements to meet her. She didn't tell me where we were going and when we got to Yuba City... and I seen the kennels in the back of the girls Expedition.. I realized what my neighbor had done. I sat and cried for 20 minutes.. It was too soon for replacing my baby. Reluctantly I finally looked at the puppy. This girl had a, god a hate to say this...but, a not so pretty, 3/4 mo. old yorkie and this little 9 wk. old bundle of fur. Go fiqure.. which would you choose. I finally held that little girl and got one wiff of that little puppy smell and I was done. Even the $1700 price didn't phase me at that point.. I was an emotional wreak... I tried my best to ask all the right questions.. pics of parents, AKC papers, diet, etc... all to which she had her story down pat! The male driver also chimed in when I asked the colors of the mother and father with this story about how the father was a one in 1500 gold...which should have been my second or third red flag...that I just kept ignoring. My bad! I fell for the scam and what's done is done. Now I am just dealing with getting this little girl (Lexie) well and loved and adjusted. I am following up with every agency under the sun but most are just telling me it is not in their court...try this agency. Even Animal Control said all they could do is ride by the 2 addresses I have for them (Chico, CA) and check it out. I like Zeke's mommy will not give up. No one will hurt these little babies if I can help it and this girl has no idea what she has gotten herself into when she scammed me and made my little baby sick in the process. If anyone reading these threads has any information or similar dealings with this girl.. Please email me. She is most likely buying her puppies from outside CA as they are at a price where she can double it and still sell them in CA. The baby I bought cam from OR. She says she is willing to drive 2/3 hours or half way point anywhere to sell them.. so I assume she is doing the same to buy them. God has a place for people like her!

I am so sorry to hear about the tragic death of Angel. I hope your new baby gets to feeling better and you start to heal from missing your Angel. I was hoping there was a connection with this lady and the blond from Zekes story. Does this sound like it could be the same person to you. I hope you are able to find her and get some answers. Good luck!!!

No, unfortunatly it does not. The date Zeke came up missing is the day I bought from her. She was in Chico that day as we talked to her a few times during the day and met with her at 4ish in the afternoon in Yuba City.

Yes, there are 2 numbers listed in the ad. 530-566-1086 & 530-566-4464. You know.. now that I think about it.. she did have another older looking Yorkie with her. I thought she was doing a switch and bait with an older puppy and a little 9 wk old puppy.. most people would go for the little 1 1/2 lb baby. I did. Gosh, I wish I knew if that other little yorkie was male or female, I didn't even ask about that one cause it was bigger and older. I do remember her saying that that one was 3 or 4 mos. old.

Have you seen the pictures of Zeke and do you think that was the yorkie. He is alot older than 3 or 4 months so I doubt it was. You are right, these scam artists will do anything for money. Probably crack heads needing a fix and will screw anybody to get it.

I am getting ready to go home from work, they blocked myspace. When I get home I will logon to myspace and look at Zeke's picture. It is so hard to tell the age of a yorkie.. I had an 8 yr old that everyone thought was a puppy....so I may be totally wrong about that other dogs age. I pray that maybe this was Zeke...but, the whole thing started (as I read the threads) from girls soliciting in that area and being seen with the dog.. I dont' think that this girl that scammed me would have been in Modesto or Tracey at a Walmart... they do live in Chico, that is hours away.

I filed the complaint with the Roseville Police Dept. There is a fraud case pending against this girl.. my next door neighbor is a detective for Placer County. She filed for me. This is not being handled in Sacramento County.
