| Just Curious - since none of your replies have involved everyone's suggestions of an x-pen. Do you like the idea of an x-pen? Do you think you'll buy one and do you think that would help? Just wondering if you're listening to anyone...

| An X-pen has actually been brought up as a possibility by Heidi and I....we'd have to find the perfect place for it....with enough room....probably wouldn't be a problem. |

| Peepad training would be ideal...however...aren't those pads expensive?? They're like a dollar each aren't they?? D o you have to use 1 each day?? If so that's 30 bucks more a month...or do they last longer than a day apiece? |

| How about this? Find a better way to train Tanner so that he's not laying in his own urine everyday!!! Stop crating him for 20 hours a day, and pay someone to come and take him out. But, I doubt you want to spend anything else on him since you're worried about what pee pads cost. Did either of you do any research at all before you bought him? Owning a dog is expensive, so if you can't deal with that, then rehome him with someone who will give him the life he deserves. Yorkies are somewhat high maintenance, and I think they are the wrong breed for you. |

| Don't buy pee pads at petsmart or petco. they are expensive there. Buy them at Target or Walmart. They are really cheap there. Much better than newspaper!

| How long does each pad last though?? I looked at a package of them, and it doens't really say. Since Yorkies don't really eliminate much, I'd imagine maybe longer than a day? |

| Depends on the pad, depends on how much the yorkie goes in a day. They're all different. I sometimes change the pad 2-3 times a day. |

| You may want to look into washable pee pads. Please realize however, that this is not a cure for the problem but I guess its a start at least. As for the baths without shampoo, you are still going to be stripping away some of those needed oils and you run the risk of not getting all of the urine off of him and causing urine burns on his skin. You said you were trying to figure out where you had room for the x-pen. You don't have to get a really big one and you could use a playpen as an option. You can get a really good inexpensive one at Target or they sell them at yard sales all of the time. You can get one for about $15. Anything would be better than the crate.

| Since your dog would pretty much only be pottying on pads and not going outside, you'd probably need 2-3 per day. You don't want them to get too soiled or he won't want to go there. But it just depends on how much your dog goes.

| okay im not being mean or anything but you should have done tons of research before you bought a yorkie or dog at that. Yorkies are high matienced dogs and are expensive. Any puppy is and you just cant get a dog and think you dont have to do anything for it. It seems like you might be trying for the well being of the puppy but i think for the well being of him you should rehome him. The pup seems really miserable from what you say and apparently you see that. would you be willing to sell him to one of YTERS? It just doesnt seem like you have the time right now in your life, maybe later on when you and your girlfriend or wife are more stable. Please dont let this baby live like this. |
