Yes, it should be gaurenteed.....BUT

Different states have different laws...in New York for example..it's only 14 days....UNLESS they provide papers signed agreeing to a one year health gaurentee for hereditary illnesses.

I never signed any papers but the guy in Queens worked with me and in the end, was very sad and understanding for me as well

I had Rio for a month and me, my boyfriend, and Sammie (yorkie) were very attached!!

In memory of Rio....here's a video clip of when I first got her .....

She's the little one and the other guy being a camera hog is Sammie

(You can almost see some signs of liver shunt in her....when she sits, she's very un-balanced and dis-oriented....as weeks went by, she got worse...)

I don't even know what to say! I'm so sorry this is happening. Poor Rio...she's so fragile. That surgery is real expensive. I hope she gets better and survives this.

oh gosh....that poor baby, and poor you!! i feel just horrible, my heart breaks for you and how hard this must be. i am soo sorry you are going through this. please keep us updated on how she is doing, and if you ever need anythign please do not hesitate to pm me. i will be praying for you and little rio.

Yes, it is very sad and I don't wish this upon anyone!!!!!

I am doing ok...I'm at peace with the decision and I will keep everyone posted on lil Rio.....

He should turn her over to Yorkie Rescue because if surgery can be done, then it should be done. They can help her get the surgery she needs. Surgery on these small dogs have been successful many, many times by vets with extensive experience with liver shunts. And like I said before, they do it at the University of Tennesse (the best place to go) for only around $1500 including pre tests, surgery, and post-op stuff...Maybe you could suggest this to him.
This whole situation just stinks. Darn liver shunts!

I really hope everything turns out oky, kikko and I both have you and sammie in our prayers and thoughts. (btw .. the video is adorable!!!! Sammie is sooo handsome and you can tell he's so smart and attentive!)

btw .. does anyone kno what happens after the yorkie goes to yorkie rescue? are they put up for adoption to be put into a forever home?

There is an excellent hospital in Philadelphia...a friend of mine just had his bichon operated on their for ls about a year ago. He's a tiny guy and he's doing GREAT. I know there are rescues in that area as well, maybe one will help.

I'm soooo sorry you had to go through this. Poor little Rio

Yes. If the rescue can raise the funds for the surgery and the little one pulls through. We got our Bernie from a rescue. He had been taken in by the rescue who paid to have a very expensive surgery done on him. (not LS)Then they started looking for a forever home...they found us...or we found them...and we are eternally grateful.

I've wondered about his original owners...do they know he's safe and happy?

I'm so very sorry that you're going through this. I'd definitely get in touch w/a rescue asap though, because the sooner the surgery is done the better. If you need any help contacting rescues, making calls, emailing, ect.. please let me know. I would be happy to help in any way I can!

I am so sorry, little Rio is adorable, she deserves a chance, and I hope she gets it. I do support your decision, hopefully it was the right thing to do. This is just too sad.

I soooo agree with this advice. Medicine alone is not going to do it. My heart just breaks for you and little Rio. At this time, I truly believe that UT is Rio's only chance. If he would agree to pay for the surgery, then someone on here who is close to Knoxville, may agree to foster Rio and make sure she gets the care that she needs.

My prayers go out for you and Rio.

I don't know if I got this right.. the man you bough her from agreed to take her back and treay her.. if/when she gets better.. will he give her back to you?

I am so ,so sorry you have gone through this. I don't know what I would have done myself. I am praying so much that she can get this surgery and have a chance at life.
I know she is tiny but there are lots of Places that are experts in this surgery for tiny ones. You did the right thing and doing the right thing is often the most difficult to do.
