| Leaving your pet with someone else....any stories??? I don't often leave Mojo at home or with a sitter when away, but there have been a few times that I have had to. I thought it would be neat to hear the stories (horror stories, fun times, etc) that might have happened while your beloved Yorkie (or pet) was with a sitter........ I have two that I will start with........ First, my DH, daughter and I flew to Disney World several years ago...we had a little Shihtzu then. He stayed w/ my inlaws while we were away. The trip had started off bad from the beginning because I had a severe allergic reaction to some medicines and had to get several shots, etc.....plus, I was just one big walking hive....I was just red and swollen and itchy for the flight and then most of the first week we were there. We called back home about each night or day. Everything seemed fine. It wasn't until we got back to our airport, that we called to let them know we would be home in a few hours that we were told there had been an accident. Our Shihtzu had been "rolled" kicked by one of their horses...how?? They let him outside off leash, he had never been around horses and got in the pen w/ them. He had most of his ribs broken, a broken leg, etc. I was alittle upset that they hadn't told us before. Course, he was okay and they paid for the vet bills, etc. So, all was good. My next story isn't really a horror story, but one that some might have run into themselves. Again, we had went on a trip (can't remember where) and my inlaws were watching Mojo. I had boiled some chicken and rice and gave it to them w/ a label for just in case he has an upset tummy, etc. (I label everything) - plus, he has a sensitive tummy. I get home and he ate nothing but chicken and rice all the days we were gone. She said that he wouldn't eat his food...well, of course because she was feeding him the other stuff all day! No harm done....just aggravating. So, does anyone have any stories they would like to share......good, bad.....I think it would be interesting to see situations that come up while we are away without our pets.

| Tatum always stays with my MIL when we have to be out of town. One time I called to check on her and my MIL nonchalantly (sp?) told me that Tatum had taken a bath but was okay. HUH? Turns out my MIL had been cleaning and adding chemicals to her hot tub and Tatum was so used to walking across the hard cover that she didn't realize it wasn't covered. She walked right into the hot tub. My MIL was standing right there and fished her out but then got a little freaked wondering what the chemicals would do to her. She was fine but had to have a bath with stuff that she didn't normally get bathed with so she was a mess when we got home. Could have been much worse!

that made me laugh because i was thinking the same thing!! i am a SAHM so i am here all day with romeo and when we go out of town the only place we go is to visit my BIL in Alabama and they have a yorkie, too. his name is york and he is a beautiful boy! he is not a tiny dog but on of the standard size - is that the right word???? one of my SIL's friends was pregnant and could not keep him and asked if she would take him and they have had him ever since. so when we go to visit romeo is more than welcome. they know how i have wanted one.

| Pet resort. stay this summer I have always let Ziggy stay at home with my mil and fil letting her out. Now she has a little sister and so this summer they are staying at their vets pet resort. I feel ok with this, because it is their vet and they will be together. I have the options of more playtimes at extra cost. They get three what is the opinion of yorkie talkers. I thought they might rather keep to themselves. |

| I don't know that I have much of a story as far as what happened while pets were at sitters, but I can offer this much: Our house burned in February. Prior to the house burning, we had 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a fish. One of the dogs died (not in the housefire), but we were still left homeless with 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a fish. We sent one of the dogs to some of my husbands family where he is staying until we get back into the house. He is doing absolutely wonderful. The other dog, we didn't have a place for, and she ended up going to stay with Teffie from here on YT. I did not know Teffie prior to that, but she took extraordinary care of my little Pixie. Pixie is back with us now. We put the cats in the safe haven program at the humane society, but they had both cats shoved in 1 cage... and we decided that was inhumane to leave them like that for any length of time. We released the older one for adoption, not really believing she'd be adopted since she was older - and she went to her new home within a week. The other cat we tried to bring home and keep, but it didn't work out, and she's also in a new home and very happy. Overall, I've had very good luck with leaving my babies in various places with all different kinds of people

| Same here lol! I just have one, but I have such a hard time leaving him. Fortunately, I work eves and my hubby works days, so Jake isn't left alone for more than an hour or so each day. I'd rather just stay home and play with Jake. |

| When we go out of town my parents puppysit for me. When we first got Brandy my mom had her for a few days while we were away. When I got back my mom complained that she hardly ate any of her dog food and yet Brandy looked noticably larger. Then my mom proceeded to hand me all of Brandy's treats that she had bought for her. There were snausages, beggin strips....all kinds of doggie treats. Apparently Brandy loved those. I thought it was so funny that my mom would give Brandy all this junk food and then wonder why she didn't eat her dinner.

| Wesley is almost two now and we have never spent a night away from him. I haven't found anyone that I would feel comfortable leaving them with. |

| We will never leave our babies with anyone ever again. We would rather stay home and never go out then to take a chance of something happening to them. Here are a few of the stories that I can think of. With my first dog (a little poodle/pug mix) I left her with my sister and niece and I went to California. My niece called to tell me that she hadn't eaten in a few days. I asked her to take Misty to my backyard so she would be in familiar territory and take her food bowl and let her eat her food there. It worked. She ate the rest of the time I was gone. Another time I left my Schnauzer and Lhasa Apso with my sister and her dogs. They came home full of fleas. I took them straight to the tub for a flea bath when I walked in the door. I had a total flea infestation after that. Never again. The worst is yet to come. My husband and I took our three dogs (2 Lhasa's and a Schnauzer) to a very reputable high-cost kennel/doggy resort. We paid a fortune to put them in a suite with doggy movies for their entertainment pleasure. We took their beds and blankets so they would be comfortable. We took their food and treats and left them feeding instructions. My husband called them every day to ask how the dogs were. They told us each time that they were just fine. When we got home and went to pick them up, their beds and blankets were so full of feces and urine that we had to throw them in the garbage. The dogs were filthy and our littlest Lhasa was so weak from not eating that she couldn't stand up. She was too weak to even open her eyes. We were furious. Fortunately, little Chewey slowly gained her strength back in a few days. Thinking back on it, I think we should have sued them. I will never leave my precious little babies with anyone. I just won't take any chances this time around.

| My husband and I took Conner to from CT to Florida for Thanksgiving. My two nieces also went with us. My parents have a home in Florida as well as in CT. We stayed in FL for a couple of days. My sister, from RI, arrived in Florida the day before us. She was going to stay with Conner and my parents' yorkie, Liberty while my parents, me, my husband and two nieces went on a cruise. Conner is very active and Liberty is very laid back. When we got back from the cruise, my sister told me that Conner took all the glass fish (that are very heavy) off the coffee table and was scattering them throughout the house. My sister had to collect all the glass fish and put them in a basket and away from Conner. My mother put the fish back out when we returned to FL, and Conner proceeded to take all of them from the table again! Conner also stole my fathers wireless mouse for his laptop! It had a lot of teeth marks in it (but still worked). Needless to say, I think they were happy to see Conner off to CT!!

| I actually used to be a PetSitter when I lived in Fl about a year ago... We had to spend 30minutes with each animal and if it was trash day or the people got mail, we took care of that also for them... I had some people that I worked for that had a little bitty yorkie and a golden retriever... well, when they weren't in the garage (which was very nice setup by the way.. we also had to leave the tv on for them in the garage when we left... preferrably country music) they were playing outside.. These people also had a dock that was completely accessible to the pups... I can't remember what it was but it was either bark collar or invisible fence collar... but the yorkie and the golden both had them... (which was really big on the yorkie) ... well we got a call one day saying that we wouldnt be needed... lil yorkie fell over on dock and drowned .... a horrifying call yes.... sometimes i wonder, if she wouldn't have had that big bulky collar on..... Agh, but who am I to tell people how to raise their furkiddos!? But stories with Loki, well, he goes EVERYWHERE with me... probably not a good thing lol... But i can't help it. I worry SOOO much about him. He's probably going to end up with seperation anxiety as much time as i spend with him if i ever had to leave him somewhere! |

| I love my dogs but I would never not go on Vacation because I have them. We go on one big vacation a year for a week sometiimes 2 to Disney. My daughter is 6 so these vacations are special to her. My groomer keeps chachi and Jewels. We also take several mini vacations where we go to an amusement park. Eiithe My Husband brother watches them or we take them with us because the park has a kennel.
