| in england docking of tails is illegal. here in usa it is legal. since a lot of the members here are in the usa, you will see more docking of tails. it is a look and to show yorkshire terriers in the usa, the tails must be docked. in hunting dogs, they dock for health reasons. while the dogs are out in the wilderness, their tails can be cut and cause an infection. there is a very small vein in the tail so if they get cut, it takes longer to heal....hence docking the tail instead of risking getting an infection. if i am wrong on this, i am sure someone will correct me but i believe i am correct

| My first Yorkie's tail was not docked and I loved her tail. I'm not a fan of docking...I wish it was illegal here like in England. You should show us her tail pic.

| i am so glad that it is NOT illegal. romeo's tail is docked and i prefer that look over a long tail. in my area i have never seen a yorkie with a tail.

| I love yorkies with full tails...In today's day and age, I believe it is purely a cosmetic thing that they dock tails here in the USA. Post some pictures of your baby's full tail, I think they're sooo cute!

| I realize in Europe, the practice is illegal. Who knows, maybe it will be here one day as well. For the time being though, the standard as set by the AKC still calls for a docked tail. Generally breeders strive to meet the standard, tail included, so they are still docked. Hope this answers your question. |

All my three Yorkshire Terriers have the tails God gave them... If you have never seen one, I hope you get the chance very soon. From the place where all Yorkies originated, SCOTLAND...here is how the happy Yorkies wag their tails and show off the lovely fall of hair.....not a very good pic, but a wee bit on view here with Tara who is nearly 7. Look what you are missing : | |

| My Kodak has his tail, but Kamari's was cut when I got her. I love to see his tail wagging, it's so cute.

| I'm used to dock tails (I've had a few cockers). There's pros and cons to it. So, imo it's a personal choice unless showing. |

| I've never seen a Yorkie with a full tail in person and I've always wondered something. Does the tail hang down or does it curl over their back like a little piggy tail (like a Maltese tail)?

| When we picked Louie up the lady said that of we wanted his tail docked we would have to go to a "private vet", I think he looks cute with it, I think if he wasn't mean't to have it he wouldn't have been born with it, saying that I have seen Y/T without and they look cute too |
