in england docking of tails is illegal. here in usa it is legal. since a lot of the members here are in the usa, you will see more docking of tails.
it is a look and to show yorkshire terriers in the usa, the tails must be docked.
in hunting dogs, they dock for health reasons. while the dogs are out in the wilderness, their tails can be cut and cause an infection. there is a very small vein in the tail so if they get cut, it takes longer to heal....hence docking the tail instead of risking getting an infection.
