![]() I think what you are feeling is so normal, especially being your first dog. Its not unlike having your first baby (thats scary too). You will find many suggestions here and different ideas, try them and see what fits with your situation. Try the playpen, if that doesn't work, do you have a tiled bathroom that you can use a babygate? Please, expect accidents, they will surely happen. Don't scold the puppy unless you CATCH him in the act then say "NO" and take him to the peepad. If you come home to a mess don't scold him, he will have no idea what you are talking about and will not understand your anger. Just clean it up and move on. It does take alot of patience and Yorkies do require alot of attention and love, but what they give back, IMO is 10fold. Give the guy a chance, give yourself a chance. If people stuck by their pups and put in the hard work instead of giving in, they would realize the pure joy a dog can bring to life. good luck.. Kathy (Wisconsin, close to you)

![]() Hang in there, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I don't have a yorkie, but my puppy is about the same size- (currently 3.8 lbs at 4 1/2 mo). She is a shih tzu/toy poodle mix. During the 1st 2 weeks I cried a lot and was sure that I couldn't keep her. I had no idea how much she would change my life and I wasn't sure I could handle it. Luckily my boyfriend was not stressed like I was and assured me we could do it. Kaya is now almost 100% pad trained with peeing and getting better all the time with pooping. We have her in training class and she is doing very well. I am thankful now that I didn't rehome her as I am sure I would have regretted it. I understand how you are feeling, just hang in there, I promise it will get better! ![]()

![]() Hang in there and don't give up. I have my puppy in an x-pen while I am at work. I put her a little bed, food and water, a piddle pad and lots of toys. She loves it. It is her special area. Give yourself time to bond with your baby. You can expect some messes (shredded toilet tissue). Murphie LOVES to tear up paper plates. lol I don't get mad at her... she is just having FUN!!! It will also help with pottie training...I leave her xpen door open while I am home and she runs inside of it to go pottie. Unexpected benefit. lol She trained herself.

![]() try leaving music on for your puppy when you go out. The sound of voices help them feel more secure and less lonely I have a (huge...10mx8m) enclosure in our back room for my puppies. They have 2 beds, a pee pad, toy basket and food/water bowls in there and stay in there during the day when we are not home and anytime they cant be supervised. I take them outside to play when I get home from uni each day. My boy puppy has learned to climb out of the 1 meter tall enclosure...little rascal!!!! I've had to make some modifications to stop him getting out....the funny thing is, he only escapes when he knows I am home and busy somewhere else in the house...he just wants to be with his mommy!

| ![]() Thank you ALL SO MUCH! ![]() ![]() I have another question, if you don't mind?! I bought Lola a playpen, and I keep her bed in there, with a pee-pee pad. She's definitely using the pee-pee pad, which is such a relief, but I'm worried that she'll now think it's ok to go the bathroom where she sleeps?! Am I doing this right? I've got another pee pad that I'm trying to train her on for when I'm home with her, but she runs to the one in the playpen...should I be worried? Eventually I'd like her to sleep with me, but I don't want her to think it's ok to pee where she sleeps? I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing?! ![]()

![]() Ok later when you are getting more rest you will start to have just one wwpad. Each day you can move it a little closer to the door and eventually you will end up outside in a preferred potty spot. After awhile you will be able to fold the pad up smaller and smaller or cut it up and eventually your baby won't need a pad to know to go outside. Hope this helps! ![]()
