I think what you are feeling is so normal, especially being your first dog. Its not unlike having your first baby (thats scary too). You will find many suggestions here and different ideas, try them and see what fits with your situation. Try the playpen, if that doesn't work, do you have a tiled bathroom that you can use a babygate? Please, expect accidents, they will surely happen. Don't scold the puppy unless you CATCH him in the act then say "NO" and take him to the peepad. If you come home to a mess don't scold him, he will have no idea what you are talking about and will not understand your anger. Just clean it up and move on. It does take alot of patience and Yorkies do require alot of attention and love, but what they give back, IMO is 10fold. Give the guy a chance, give yourself a chance. If people stuck by their pups and put in the hard work instead of giving in, they would realize the pure joy a dog can bring to life. good luck..
