| FRUSTRATED  I've been on Yorkietalk since I got Teddy about 2yrs ago. Anyhow in Nov. a coworker approached me about breeding her yorkie with mine. I agreed to breed Teddy, as long as I got a girl puppy from the litter. I bet you already know were this is going huh? Well, she agreed and two puppies were born at the end of Jan. A boy and a girl, she even asked me what to name the dog. Well, this weekend is 8th week, since the puppies were born. Today I get a call from the owner of the female dog telling me that the girl dog is not gaining as much weight and that she took her to the vet, and that there was nothing physically wrong with the dog, only that she was growin a lot slower than her brother. She claimed that the vet suggested that girl puppy needed more attention, and that because I work, it wouldn't be a good environment for the puppy? She then offered the male puppy, and when I told her I wasn't interested in the male puppy, she even suggested paying a stud fee for Teddy. She claims the male is bigger and does not need the attention the female puppy needs. I feel that these are all excuses not to give me the dog. What do yall think?? |

| I think a deals a deal if you still want the girl puppy. If the girl is not the quality or something that you want then take the stud fee.

| Tell her you would like to speak to the vet & find out for yourself what the problem is. If she refuses then you know she's trying to give you the run-around. If she agreed to you getting a girl from the litter she needs to honor your agreement. IMO she's probably wanting to keep the female beause she can get more money by selling the smaller & female of the 2 pups. |

Agree with this. Also, tell her you need to speak with the vet to find out *exactly* what is wrong with the little girl. What if it is a genetic thing? You would hate to breed him again if he was a carrier of something

| If she has any intregity at all the female will be at YOUR home as soon as she is ready to leave mom. I would be in her "back pocket" so to speak -- I would just "claim" her -- anytime you talk to her -- make it at least a couple times a day talk about YOUR little girl. Don't leave her any room to renig. |

| Devils Advocate We always read on here how Yorkie pups really need to stay with their Mama's until 12 weeks of age. Here's the devils advocate part: Is she willing to give up the female at 12 weeks of age? If not - don't back down - if you have something in writing - threaten a law suit. If you know an attorney, see how much they would pay to write a letter for you. (Sometimes $50...sometimes free!) Usually a letter is about all it takes for people like that. I agree - she's seeing dollar signs on the small female and if you were promised the female - stick to your guns. Sneaky snakes...hate 'em!!! Good luck and keep us posted!

| Frustrated This all happened last friday, and it completely caught me off guard. I was expecting her to ask me if I was coming to pick up the puppy. Instead, she starts with all these excuses. I then called her Sunday, and I told her that the reason I had decided to breed Teddy was because I wanted a little girl. I wasn't interested in the male or a stud fee. She then tells me that she would have to speak to her husband. I was like okay. That was her way of getting out the coversation. I gave her three days, she didn't call. So I decided to call her Wednesday. Immediately she starts talking about something completely unrelated. I ask her how Thalia is doing, (the name I gave the puppy) she tells me the puppy is doing better. That supposedly the puppy is still drinking the moms milk, and eating puppy food. I was like okay, I understand if she has to stay with the mom another few weeks. She then mentions that she and her husband would be willing to give me 700.00 as a stud fee. I acted as though I didn't hear a thing. This is soo frustrating! I trusted her, I thought that she was an honest person. |

| Don't back down! Stand your ground and be firm, and let her know that you will not settle for anything less than that female pup.
