Dog Food Hi...I just got my very first Yorkie and need some suggestions as to what is the best food to feed my Yorkie. I am currently giving her Eukanuba small bites dry food. My vet also told me to give her Eukanuba wet food or IAMS. But because of this terrible pet food recall, I am not giving her wet food. She is not fond of eating the wet Eukanuba anyway. She is used to eating Cesar Puppy. Any suggestions???

There are a lot of threads on here about what to feed your puppy. Do a search and you will find them. Here is a website that is very helpful in choosing a high quality dog food. You should look for a 4 or 5 star rating. 6 star is too high. I think it is because of the amount of protein that is in the 6 star dog food. Hope this helps! http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_f...ndex.php/cat/1

i'm such a sucker for these threads but only because i used to feed the food you are feeding (not very good food... so sorry) and i've "seen the light" if you will .. and now only feed human grade food... the website given to you iss GREAT and will really help you see what it is you are currently feeding (many people have equated it to mcdonalds every day) i now feed Fromms... but you may also try looking for Canidae... Wellness.. Solid Gold... try to avoid the 6 star foods on that website.. they ahve too much protien for our little guys!

I just opened Buddahs package yesterday. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH! The yorkie card was sooo cute too! Buddah LOVES the food. I never thought of him as a picky eater, but he never jumped at his food. I pu it down and he would eat it here and there until its gone. With the Fromm as soon as I put it in the bowl he ate it all! even leaving some of his regular (science diet) kibble in the bowl. He also LOVES the yogurt dips. Do you feed Layla the yogurt dips as treats or a meal? I'm thinking about using them as treats. Same as the food, I havent found any treats that he goes nuts for. makes it challenging to train him when he could care less if he gets the treat or not. | |

no that is not true at all... i think the myth comes from.. yorkies have bad teeth to begin with and if they aren't crunching on hard kibble.. then ntohing is cleaning their teeth... so feeding all wet would not be the best for their teeth unless you are going to brush them.. layla has wet and dry food and i brush her teeth every day... feel free to feed wet!
