| Is this a Yorkie! Hi Guys, I'm posting for a friend who is thinking of buying this little guy from a lady here in Texas for $600. He is supposedly APR registered. The lady just sent her these pics last night and she sent them to me asking what I thought, and I thought I'd post them here and see what you all think. Is he a full-blood yorkie? Is his coloring wierd? Does he look ill? Any info/advice would be appreciated.

| As far as if it is or is not a yorkie, I could not say for sure. The coloring seems off and his snout seems long. I also dont think he looks as bright as I like to see them. But that is just my opinion. I would recommend to keep looking unless she is in love with the dog.

| His snout does seem long. And look how big his paws look in the last picture. Looks like his ears have been shaved, possibly to get them to stand?? How old is he? I know they can have white on them when pups, but, the whole top of his head is silver. And he doesn't seem very happy or perky, poor thing. I think I'd pass.

| I agree! I thought he looked like he had a lot of white on his head too. In fact, his coloring in general seems wierd to me. The lady told her he was 1 year old. I was shocked at the place the pictures were taken too. Surely he doesn't live in this garage or shed or whatever it is!! He looks so sad I know my friend would give him a much better home, but I think $600 is way too much for him.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Tara - I don't know if that puppy is a year old or not - but those ears are pointed straight down and that's strange - that little puppy sure looks in need of a good home though - Sometimes the ducklings turn into swans but I sure couldnt say that's a pure yorkie - Is the price negotiable and is your friend set on a 100% yorkie ? |

| We have a dog that comes in to get groomed at work that could pass as this dogs sister. It is almost identical to this dog. And the one that we groom is a yorkie/cairin terrier mix. My opinion this one definately seems like it is mixed with something, but just my opinion. |

| That dog does look sad! I wouldn't pay $600 dollars for him...sounds like a scam, but I do think he needs a better home...poor thing!

| Get This! My friend just got off the phone with the poor dog's owner and now the lady says he has APR papers, but she never sent them in, but she is getting ready to send the CKC papers off this weekend to register him so that she can also register the pups he had with one of her friends dogs!! This is odd because she originally said she was getting rid of him because he wasn't interested in her female at all. She still insists he is 100% yorkie and one year old. My friend doesn't care if he's a 100% yorkie as long as she's not paying 100% yorkie prices. Right now she doesn't know what to think about this one and neither do I.

| If ur friend really likes him then why not, i would get him just to turn him into a happy chappy and give him a life like a prince, he really does look sad and miserable - he deserves SO much better!! Maybe he doesnt look like champion, but im sure hes got a lot of love to offer!

| This baby reminds me of my Shorkie that passed away last year. He does look like he needs a good home though.

| why did they wait a year to sell him? Just curious...I think he has something mixed somewhere down the line...not likely that his ears will stand up after a year. I think she is asking to much. Chris |

| Tara: There is so much to consider here. If she is not going to show or breed the dog, then for $600 for this guy is not an issue in my opinion. I think that should be bottom line for any puppy. To ask to pay less would require the breeder to provide less than adequate care for the mother and the babies. This would be irresponsible of the breeder and the buyer in my opinion. If we want adequate care for these puppies, we cannot ask breeders to lose money in the process. Sure, they love the dogs, but she has had this one for a year so he has all his shots, and she has raised him from the day he was born. $600 is less than $2 per day from the day he was boen not to mention the care for his mother before and after the birth. She may have made a little money from him if ahe used him as a stud dog, but not much I would gather. There is obviously no guarantee that she has provided minimal care but he looks clean and appears healthy. His ears are down, but not all yorkie ears go up. A lot of dogs appear "sad" in pictures. They don't like the flash, etc. They may be perfectly happy animals otherwise. Does your friend plan to see the puppy before buying? I would think that would be imperative to determine his temperament since he is an older dog. He is not the "ideal" picture perfect yorkie, but for $600 they are not asking "ideal" yorkie prices either. She also needs to consider the fact that he was used as a stud dog since he will always "mark" and most stud dogs are kept in their own shelters out of the house by most breeders. She could have him wear a bellyband in the house and some males can be trained after they are neutered but it is difficult. BTW, the fact that he was not interested in "her" female but did mate with her friend's female is not unusual. He just had a preference and didn't care for one of them. It's pretty common I think, but I am not a breeder so i don't know for sure. Good luck! |

| Yes, I also think that maybe he has something else mixed with him or it could be just bad breeding. If your girlfriend doesn't mind him possibly not looking quite up to par for a yorkie, I would go see him and if she falls in love, I would ask the lady to lower the price and not worry about the registration papers as it looks like she's not really sending them in anyway. On a sadder note, why would you breed him, that's the question I would ask her? And make sure that she has time to get him to a vets for a quick check up to make sure he's healthy. He just looks too sad for me ...Theresa & The Boys |
