| It's Gettin Hot in Here......... Is it just me or are things getting really heated around this forum again? It seems like I read several threads today and over the last few days where people were not so "chipper" with each other. Maybe it's that warm summer weather. Personally, I just hate to open up a thread only to stumble upon a "feud." I'm the type of person, I get so riled up reading that stuff ! Of course it doesn't help that once I see a post with a sarcastic tone, I can't resist and I have to keep reading all the responses to it. Seriously though, I hate to see the rude comments to fellow members. I know people will always make comments that upset us or do something that angers us, but some things are better off said privately in a PM or an email. Also, we shouldn't forget what our mama's used to say -- "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Hopefully, we can all work together to continue to make YT a fun place to be.

Administrator | Thanks for your input and concern, since this is YOUR Yorkie community, what do you propose we do when there are posts that go over the line? There's a fine line between letting people speak their mind and when things go overboard and comments get personal. In the past, we've allowed people to speak freely unless there are personal attacks. That has led to good things (in case of warning people about potentially bad breeders) as well as bad (some members leaving because of snide comments made). If there are personal attacks in a post, we delete the post and warn the member. Too many warnings, and a member would be banned, but we've never gotten to that point, thankfully... |

| When threads are closed, I think it solves a lot of problems/concerns; things are not allowed to get too far. I do, however, become disappointed when a thread is closed (i.e. one about a particular treat) and I am not able to defend myself. I guess that stems back to me needing to have the last word at all times. Everyone ends up taking sides and friends defend friends just like it is in the real world. I think people who make personal attacks should not be warned and immediately banned.

| I think a warning is okay in the case of a situation that just got "heated and out of hand". In the case of an out and put attack, however I think a "suspension" for a certain number of days before a "total ban" might be something to consider also. |

| I agree with Socalyorkilvr. I also wanted to say that I think you do a great job Admin. You messages to us are always to be friendly to one another. I think that helps keep people on the right track also.

| I do not post as often as others but I am on frequently. I totally dislike seeing mean threads. There is one right now that is just beyond exceptable, in my opinion. I agree with the above post that if you have something tht needs to be said do it in a PM. Passing ugly remarks back and forth is not going to get you any thing except more ugly remarks. I think as YT's we need to be more a observant in what we type, or how we type. Remember people can't see your expression only the words; so they don't know if you are meaning to come across the way you are. No one wants to log on in a middle of a heated battle. A debate is a different story they are usually civilized discussions where disagreements are under control, battles are name calling or name labeling post. Administration I think should tell all parties involved in a post that the thread will be closed. If it is picked up again maybe there could be a log kept of who participates in verbal ugliness, and apply a 3 strikes your out role. Good luck admin. It is definitly a tough job keeping things under control.

| I personally don't think there is anything wrong with stating your opinions here. Yes, some do get heated--but that is what happens when you have a lot of people on here with different opinions. I agree that personal attacks should be stopped and opinions should stay focused on the topic. I have found many a times that I have wanted to let someone know how I feel--but I stop myself and don't post at all. |

| Admin Admin, You guys are doing a good job moderating the forum and might I add that I really love this place! However, lately its seemed there is more than enough negative energy around here! I thought my post might draw attention to the fact that even if someone upsets you, you don't have to respond, or if you think you do, you can do so in a "less-public" manner. I have had incorrect and offending things posted about me, but have chosen to take the high road and not respond for sake of "keeping the peace" on the boards. I think others can do the same, or if you have to respond, they can do so personally (via PMs or e-mails) instead of in front of everyone else. I'm just trying to motivate others to help maintain the fun atmosphere. As far as suggestions go, perhaps there could be a button on the thread or someway for someone to easily report a post they think is heated or offensive. Just a thought.

Administrator | tarawood: There actually IS that feature. You see that red triangle sign (under a person's username and stats and still in the blue box), that's for reporting bad posts. If anyone finds a post they find questionable or could lead to trouble, use it to report the post! |
