| Does your Yorkie ever forget potty training? Hi everyone! I know this thread may belong in the training section but I wasn't sure. Anyway, does your Yorkie ever forget their potty training for a while and wet on the carpet or floor? My Yorkie, Lulu, is litterbox trained and does quite well with it most of the time. However, she will go through spells where she will just squat near the litterbox and wet right on the carpeting. I can't figure out why she does that. I try to catch her when she is going on the rug and tell her "no no" and that she should go in the litterbox. This seems to confuse her more and then she doesn't know where to go and sometimes will hold her "tinkle" for long periods. I don't yell at her because it confuses her. When this happens and then she happens to go in her litterbox, I praise her and give her a treat so she knows that is where she should go. Has anyone else ever experienced this? If so, do you know why she might be forgetting her potty training? Thank you for your help. I just love this site. Colleen |

| How old is she? I think they all have accidents every now and again, make sure you clean it up really good. They always go back to the same spot, even if it's cleaned properly. Kodak is 2yrs old and if we don't get home on time, he still has accidents.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I have little Cheri who forgets she ever heard the words 'do your business' and Chanel who has never had an accident since probably 3 months old...it's all in the yorkie and what personality type they have I think. Some are very hard to train 100% and some are a breeze - I have one of each lol |

| Hi Kodak, Lulu is 1.5 yrs old. She usually goes to the bathroom when we are home and don't have our eyes on her when she is going through this phase. It is just so weird because she only does it sometimes--maybe she is looking for attention? Colleen |

| Lately Winnie has been pooping inside and eating it when we're out of the house...she did this for awhile when she was younger, but I thought she had grown out of it. Today we put her in her crate while we were at work the afternoon...hopefully she'll realize that she only gets to roam free when she doesn't have accidents. I know she knows better too...I think she just would rather poop inside and be warm and then have a snack then poop outside in the snow and mean mommy won't let her eat it. |

| My bet is that she wants attention. There's no real solution for that one, aside from strapping her to your body!

| Hi Winnie, Lulu ate her poop for a while when I first got her. I had to keep a close watch on her when she went near her litterbox and hurry up and clean up any poop. Then when she went in the litterbox and didn't eat it, I would praise her and give her a treat. It worked but took some time. Colleen |

if you're inside training only - try to put her in her litter box every few hours if you can - basically you're planting the seed to 'go' but other than that - I'm NO help. I was very lucky with Chanel....and Cheri has been an ongoing process | |

| Debbie will be five next week and is supposed to use her pad in the house but also goes outside. She'll do well for a while and then out of the blue....Yesterday morning there were two little pees on the carpet in front of the tv in the living room. It's not as if she doesn't know better. It's not like there have been any upsets. Other than that she's a very good little girl. Maybe she does this to keep me grateful for the times she does go in the right place. |

| Hi Villette and rox, I think you are right, Villette, when you say it depends on her mood. Lulu sounds like Debbie. I think I will be grateful that she goes much of the time in her litterbox. I will try putting her in the litterbox every few hours to gently "remind" her of her training. Thanks! Colleen |
