| For what it is worth, my Yorkiebook said most good breeders will not let go of a pup for 10wks. I got my first from Atlanta, Ga., I'm in Fl. I asked all the right questions, looked at the parents and did not pay until I interacted with Chloe. That is important because a well socialized dog is a better pet. Anyway, I love her to pieces, she's a great dog but she is larger than I wanted, about 7lbs, with light, cottony coat. The next one I purchased, I paid more than I should have but I have a small, 5lb, silky coat, short legged yorkie. So, actually seeing the parents isn't much help, Chloe's were 6lbs. I don't regret either one, all I am saying is be aware that unless you get a full history, including grandparents and are sure, all puppies look the same to most people and frankly, although many would disagree, that price isn't a lot for a smaller yorkie, in my opinion. My smaller yorkie has a champion sire and I got what I wanted. For a pet, Chloe is the better dog. She is smart and isn't as fragile. Lacey is small and cute as a bug but is scared of her shadow. To me, unless you want to show, just be sure there is no health issue and you go into it with your eyes open and don't picture one of those little ones you see on TV. |

| I was wondering if there were updateds also. Txgurl did you get your baby yet? If not, has the breeder sent you updated pictures? The picture you have is a pic of a puppy that looks to be about 2 weeks old and just opened its eyes. I know you must be excited and cant wait to see the new puppy. Good luck and i hope all goes well if you decided to get her. I can still remember how escatic I was to be getting my first yorkie Callie. Keep us posted and post pic of your new baby. |

| You said she's in Mansfield? I sure hope you didn't contact the breeder that I contacted there. I live right next to Mansfield... The one I was talking to was all "send a deposit, blah blah"... which I refused to do... then she's all, "OH, well I'm in Louisiana for a couple weeks, send me a bunch of money and I'll ship him"... I asked about the parents, and she was like yeah, they're here, but I can have them in Mansfield if you want to see them. But she can't have the puppy there? She was just squirly to me... I hope it's not the same one. The puppies are about 10 weeks old now - i notice your post was a couple weeks ago.

Your little girl looks more around 5 weeks than 7 to me, maybe it was an old picture? Be careful with breeders, there are so many unethical ones out there and it can get you in a load of trouble! I heard someone say the pup was only 450.00, it is a pure bred yorkie and does she have clean genetic lines? You may wish to check those things out, even if it seems like you are getting a great deal now, if you end up with a pup that has a load of health problems you will have to spend thousands of dollars trying to fix it. I paid a good amount for both of mine, they are very healthy and I've spent close to 1,000 dollars already just in shots, boosters, vet visits, medication for upset tummy's or diarahea, flea and heart medications etc. My point is, even with very healthy dogs vet bills can run up really high, really fast, with an unhealthy dog its WAY worse! I know how exciting it can be to get a new pup but I too would suggest waiting until they are 10-12 weeks, I would say 9 weeks at the youngest. I really hope things work out for you! Please keep us updated! | |
