| I hate to be a downer too but I wouldn't give anyone I didn't know any money until I had personally seen her home and the pup & its parents. Definitely at least the mother with a 7 week old pup. And again she really is too young to leave her mom at 7 wks even though 1 lb 4 oz is not that small at 7 wks. I got mine at 9 weeks which I now know was too young & she weighed 13 ozs. I realize that I was very fortunate not to have any problems other than a bout with coccidiosis with a puppy that young. She is 4 lbs now at 9 months. |

| JMHO, I think half of the puppy price is way to high for a deposit. IF,, you drove down there and saw that she is what she claims to be, then giving her half or all wouldn't be so bad. two hours each way is nothing. I have people driving an 18 hour trip from West Palm beach, Florida to here in kentucky to get one of my puppies, next week. Buut she knew all about me since she is a member heree also. that really would have been your best way to go. Buy from one of the breeders on here. One thing for sure, you will not get scammed. |

| I am getting my new little girl from a breeder on YT also. I am in Michigan, they are in Kansas. But, I got good reviews on them from other people I trust. They agreed to hold the puppy for me for another three weeks till I could get a reasonable flight and as such required 1/2 as her deposit. I feel very confident in my decision and can't wait to meet them and my little Angel at the airport. But, I agree that with such a small sized pup, 8 weeks is too early to take her home. I would wait until at least 10 weeks. A 2 hour drive really isn't that much. I've done that for a Yorkie meet-up!! I would make the drive this weekend to see her and check them out and then if you feel everything is okay, I wouldn't have a problem giving 1/2 the money. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

| I don't think that pic is a 7 week old pup -- did she say it is current or from a few weeks ago? I have to agree with the others -- no one is saying anything against the breeder or the pup but you can't put your faith and $$ into online pics and a person you never met's word -- unless you have some pretty solid referrals. Several here have put money on a puppy that looked beautiful in all the pics only to find the dog that arrived or was ready for pick up was entirely different. There was another lady just recently that put down a deposit and then the puppies died while the breeder still had them. The lady now refuses to give her "nonrefundable deposit" back! There are just so many things you need to find out by seeing them face to face. I would definately make the drive or find one closer to you.

| Usually people ask for $100 or $200 deposit, not half. I would ask her if you can bring the money to her cause you are so excited & want to see her. If she gives you a bunch of excuses & says she will just send more pics, it will be best to just send the money-red flag. If she agrees I would scedule a day & wait til that day. Say its saturday then see if she tries to cancel. If not call her early that morning say you are getting ready, if she says great be careful & has gave you directions & a home number good-if not -red flag. Then about 15 minutes later call & say something has come up so you are paypaling the money now. I usually go to anywho.com & do a reverse look up, you put a phone number in & it gives you the name & address so you can be assured everything matches up, also call that number & talk to her so you know it is the actually people. Good luck, we want your next thread to be showing off that little one, not saying you got taken. I would ask the lady when the time comes to pick her up if she feels shes ready, because its best to wait til 10wks at least, 12 is recommended. Also Royal Canine Puppy has tiny little bites puppies can eat. Petland doesnt carry it but everywhere else does. |

| From what I read this puppy is 450?? If so I can understand half for the deposit b/c its not much to start with ( not much for a yorkie is what I am saying ) I think you will be fine money-wise if she is located that close to you. I would tell you that I have a yorkie that I got at 7 weeks ( the breeder lied about her age ) I have 4 other yorkies that I got as puppies but, they were at least 12 weeks. It makes ALL the difference in their social skills. The puppy I got at 7 weeks will be 3 years old this Summer and she is very sweet, but kinda " slow " She just always looks lost. She is just now starting to get better. Anyway, good luck with this puppy and find out how old that puppy was in the picture....its defianlty younger than 7 weeks but, oh so adorable! What names are you thinking of? P.S. I know buying is scary, I imported 3 show line yorkies from Canada, Had to drive almost 23 hours round trip to get to the Airport they flew into. With just 2 hours ( thats nothing ) between you I would encourge you to go play with her, put your eyes on her, and leave the deposit. Angie |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congratulations!!! We are all excited for you , we just are trying to protect you from another scammer, because unfortunately there are 2 many out there. When I got Cali, I called and talked to the breeder for 45 minutes and felt good about her. My husband drove me there on his day off and it was a 3 1/2 hour drive and w had not seen any pics. The house was beautiful, clean and Cali was 6 weeks old and sooo tiny. We decided we wanted her and put 1/2 down 750.00 and they gave us a receipt with all the info on it as to who the parents were and health gurantee. We went back in 3 weeks and picked her up and paid the other half. I really hope you can get someone to gowith you to go see the puppy or someone on here who is closer can. Cali was 1 lb at 9 weeks and pretty scik when we got her home so you rerally want to make sure the puppy is healthy. Thankfully I no longer work and I was able to keep a close eye on her 24/7 and avoided some near death situations with hypoglycemia. Owning a healthy Yorkie is the greatest thing but getting one that is too young or sick is just heartbreaking and expensive. I guess what I am trying to say is that the people on YT have very good real life experience with all of this and we really want you to get a healthy adjusted puppy and not get scammed. I hope this works out and in a few weeks your baby is home with you.

| I offer my congratulations on your new girl, but I question the sellers ethics. A reputable breeder would never let one go under 12 weeks old. They need that time to become well adjusted and they learn so very much from the mom. Could that breeder just keep that young baby with her mom for 5 weeks? |
