Good luck, she'll get it soon. Read up on any pottytraining. There's tons of books and stuff online.

| Luig is trained to go outside and that was the only way he was trained. My vet encouraged us to do one or the other so he didn't get confused. We adopted Luigi Jan 2nd, and I thought that I would have him go on the pads til it got warm out then start doing the outside thing! Well then my vet told me that it would be too hard to retrain him. So we only went outside in the freezing cold and in the snow. There were times we were outside a LONG time waiting for him to go, but I would not bring him in til he either peepeed or poopooed or both!!! And it seemed to work. After about a month, I knew when he had to go--like clockwork!!!! Now he is such a good boy, he goes 8 hrs at a time and holds it til we go outside!!!! And he actually loved the snow and loved to play in it!!! And he loves the rain too!!! Its starting to get hotter and more humid here and he actually is NOT liking that at all. He must get too hot!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Stewie is 6 mos old and had his first accident in a long time yesterday. He peed right in front of me on the living room rug. I couldn't believe my eyes. Anyway, it was a long, hard road. He still doesn't have the run of the house when I'm not home, but I am hoping I can trust him 100% in the next few months. He's pee pad trained, but I occasionally take him outside. My favorite tip about pottying is to keep repeating the same phrase everytime the dog is sniffing or going and say the same phrase in a scolding manner if you catch them having an accident or if you catch them going where they are supposed to go. Good luck to you Lexi's Mommy and everyone else having problems with their babies.

| Kodah is 99.9% trained to go outside when I can leave the door cracked to our backyard. But if the door is shut & you don't see her at the door, she will just go on the floor - don't know how to teach her to bark - so I am always taking her out every two hours or so when the AC is on. When I was training her & it was raining, I would take a huge umbrella out & hold it over us until she would go. Now when it is raining she runs REAL QUICK & then back in. Last night we had thunderstorms & I was outside at 4:30 in my nightie with an umbrella over Stormy (our new puppy) & Kodah running around the yard doing her thing! If only the neighbors knew what they were missing in the wee hours of the morning! |

| Lexie is 5 1/2 months old and about 85% trained to go outside. She is holding her bladder much longer these days, but still has accidents when we are not looking. I went to a potty training class and learned to place a bell on the door and teach her to hit the bell with her paw when she needs to go out. Lexie is doing pretty well, but also rings the bell when she wants to go out to play! As for the puppy pads, she won't use them.

| Thanks everyone, I have to admit I have tried lots of your suggestions. My next step is the bell, I guess she will be trained to only go outside. I really wish she had interest in going on a wee wee pad. We go on a few vacations every year and wee wee pads are convinent.

| Esme is trained to go on the pee pads. She really got the hang of it at 4 months, and rarely has accidents now at 6 months. We have started leaving her home alone for short periods of time and hope we can work up to getting rid of her pen. Good Luck!

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Good luck ! I know training is different for every yorkie - I have one that was fantastic and never had accidents - used her pad when she was very young ..and trained in 2 weeks - My youngest Cheri is trained approx. 95% at almost 1 year old....She won't go if it rains - I carry her. She won't use her pads to pee on either - so it's just a matter of watching her and letting her out - She just started making the blinds in the window clatter when she wants out - which I think is GREAT ! People talk about training all the time but until we actually have one that ISN'T trained, we don't really know how hard it can be...some never are accident free... but I think most yorkies do learn eventually...some are just late bloomers ! |
