| I'm sure she'll do fine once she's adjusted to her new surroundings. Even adult dogs can be socialized into fine pets. I would love to see a photo of her and if you'd post one, maybe some of the more experienced yorkie people could tell you how old she might be. |

Some people, I swear. I hope your pup gets healthy in no time. Just make sure he/she is eating, drinking, and well supplemented.

| So sorry you are having a problem with your new bundle of love. As a breeder myself, I can tell you, unless the breeder has dewormed the mom, the pups will get worms from the milk. I always deworm my females that are coming into heat. Once the puppy is born the first shots and worming should start at 6 weeks, and continue every 3 weeks until they have 3 series of shots. (sometimes when a pup is really small the vet will wait 2-3 weeks until it is large enough to take the shot). You can check with the vet that the breeder took her litter too and they can tell you, when the first shots and worming were given. All shots and worming should have been completed. As far as kennel cough, this breeder most likely has it in her kennel, maybe even the mom? The kennel cough should not be difficult to clear up. As far as pricing, 1,500 is still a nominal amount to pay for a tiny especially for a female. A four to five pound yorkie is a perfect size. My Cassie has finally topped 4 lbs and she still looks so small. What kind of written guarantee did the breeder give you? Did she give you paperwork from her vet showing all shots and procedures completed on this puppy? If the breeder agreed to take her back, then you need to make up your mind soon, as to what is the best avenue for you. I hope everything works out for you and your baby. Keep us informed!

| Teeth are the best aid in determining an adult dog's age, but with puppies, you are talking weeks instead of years. It is just an estimate. Most sources say the temporary puppy/milk teeth fall out between 14 and 30 weeks. So, that gives some leeway there. From the person's web site and site's like Nextdaypets, it does look like you might have bought from a mass breeder, probably a puppy mill. Did she show you the parents? That can give an idea of possible size. But parents and growth charts are just estimates too. Some stop growing early, some continue on for a year or more. A puppy's price is based on more than size too. I paid $1500 for one that I am sure will not be a tiny one. She has beautiful markings, small ears, an AKC pedigree chock full of champions and a breeder who keeps her puppies and adults in her home getting plenty of attention and love. You may have paid a little more than the going rate for an APRI-registered Yorkshire Terrier but maybe she has other attributes that add to her worth? Maybe she has perfect markings, signs of a silky coat, a temperment that makes you fall instantly in love? The worst thing is that she allowed a sick puppy to leave. You did hve a right to pick up a puppy that was not wormy and croupy! The breeder should compensate for those vet bills but may not depending on the contract. You could try to get something from the breeder, but I doubt that would happen. Better to just love the baby you have and I bet in no time you will think she is worth much more than you paid!
