| I used to fly in between VA and PA a lot and Diamond came once when she was a puppy. The flight was delayed and we had to wait for the plane for several hours...poor Diamond. Luckily, the flight attendants LOVED her and they were all playing with her when I was at the gate waiting for the plane to arrive. Once on the plane, I couldn't take Diamond out and I had to leave her in the carrier under the seat She was okay, I am sure she didn't LOVE it...she did poop in the carrier! |

| Izzy and I just flew from Detroit to Nashville for Christmas. It was his first plane ride. He slept the whole time on the way there...we had a late flight, 9:30pm. When we landed he got a little scared so I took him out and held him in my lap. On the way back to Detroit, was a different story. We had an early morning flight and he cried and barked most of the way, but the funny thing was, no one really heard him because the plane noise was so loud! I had him on my lap in the beginning but the flight attendant made me put him away, that is when he cried. I did take a wee pad with me and took him to the Family Restroom and let him go, and I had treats and water. I might fly with him again, but not long flights. If you are looking for a carrier, they have cute ones at Petco by Nicole Miller. Mine is blue and brown with an argyle pattern, very stylish! Good luck with your trip!

That is soooo funny! I actually did buy a seat for Toto for her first flight!! I just made two reservations ... hers was Toto Miller. I figured if I paid for the seat, they wouldn't care what was sitting in it! I got a little worried and called to double check that it would be OK ... Oh .... they did care! They refunded her ticket and changed her to excess baggage and she had to be under the seat! We have flown with her dozens of times in her short life and she's a great little traveler. We take the flights that are nonstop and try to get her to tee tee in the bathroom on her pad. The only time I have had success doing this ... some gates have small bathrooms next to them [they are unmarked] and with no distractions, she will go. When we flew back to Colorado on New Year's eve, she wouldn't pee for 12 hours. Our vet says this is OK since it doesn't happen very often but I still worry because it takes her a couple of days to get back on schedule. I usually put a puppy diaper on her and a little fleece onesie because it's cold on the floor. Nice attendants will let us sit the carrier on our lap during flight and give her little sips of water and a little treat which she usually tucks under her blankie for later! Good luck!

| Hi "Tink's Mom", My husband and I have flown for years with our Silky Terrier that was 11+ lbs and our little Red Bellied Parrot. Both in the cabin with us and under the seats in front of us. We have had no problems at all. You need to make your reservations in advance because they usually only allow 2 pets per cabin/plane. We normally have to pay $75 each way per pet. That seems strange since toddlers under 2 years of age are considered "Lapper's" and are charged nothing. Our Silky died last year and we now have "Taylor", a 9 month old Yorkie. He is a big guy and is 11 lbs. We just flew with him from Sarasota to Chicago... He did fine. Our parrot is another story. He's small and fits in a carrier under the seat but he just LOVES to start ringing his "CELL PHONE" ring about the time that they are doing the beverage service at 32,000 feet. It causes a stir...until they realize it is our parrot and then there is a lot of laughter. He knows it...and then Wrigley..starts laughing himself! He's a character! We normally are never ask for our dog's health certificate but there is a rule with most airlines that you should have one with you that was done within the last 10 days. That's about the only thing I can tell you...except you need a "Soft-Sided" carrier because all airline seats are not the same size underneath. A hard carrier might not fit and you certainly don't want to have to put your baby down in the cargo pit if you can avoid it. I used to work for United Airlines and I can tell you that the cabin is much safer for pets. I hope this helps.... Gayle_T "Taylor's Mom" |

. I was wondering if a soft-sided carrier would work. It looks like you could lay some of them on their side to fit under the seat. I'll start looking for one of those. Thanks everyone who answered that has a larger pet. I'm just not sure how quickly Tink is gonna grow or how big she'll get. She is a rescue baby so I didn't see her parents to get an idea. And it's good to know that buying her a ticket won't help either . I really was thinking about that.I'll check out Nichol Miler carriers too. Thanks everyone. | |

| Here's a link to it. Ain't it grand, gals!! It's the perfect size for the American Airlines restrictions. Now I just have to sell shares in Tink to afford it. LOL http://www.funnyfur.com/index.asp?Pa...ROD&ProdID=186 |
