| ![]() Occasionally, I get to work from home and I've noticed that Scooter just sleeps all day, so don't worry too much.

| ![]() Hey ! Don't fret they get along fine without us. It just makes them that much more exited to see us when we return. Reese loves the ritual of us coming home he does the same thing everyday. I really think he sleeps alot when we are gone. Because on our days off he just crashes halfway through the day ,you know like he needs his beauty sleep.lol He has the run of the house and I don't leave the tv on. I really believe it is all in what they get used to. Good Luck!!!! |

| ![]() Mine is confined to the kitchen and laundry room area. It is large - and he has stayed there since he was a pup (he's 15 months old now). When I get ready to go out the door - he actually goes and jumps in his bed and watches me go.....never a peep or a whine. And, when I get back home - (I'm gone 5 or 6 hours) -- he is still in his bed. I swear he sleeps the whole time I'm gone. I have another dog that has free roam of the house - and he sleeps all the time I'm gone too. I'm sure dogs have different temperments - and are raised a little differently too -- but none of my dogs has ever cried or whinned when I leave the house for a while. -- But, like all dogs, they are ecstatic when I get back home. Luvs Lulu Donating Member | ![]() The gated one is better. They can't eat it up. The regular baby playpen they can eat up the mesh on the sides and get out...loll Your baby will get used to it. Mommy has to work so he can get the kibble and bully sticks he loves. Dont' feel guilty.

| ![]() Debbie is kept gated in the kitchen but only because we have an alarm that she would set off if left loose. I think she sleeps the whole time she's alone. She's got food, water and a pad in there. I don't leave toys cause she doesn't play with them. Sometimes I think she's happy for the peace and quiet. The pen is a good idea, but be careful. Sometimes they can climb over using the mesh or little bars. I'd hate for your yorkie to fall off the top of the pen. I don't think anyone would fault you for leaving your yorkie. After all not all of us can afford to stay home all day. We do need to earn a living! |

| ![]() Hi there I think everyone has covered the usual tricks to keep them occupied but I have a couple more. - On the cage we have I tie rope through the bars so Dylan plays little tug of war games with himself. - A long morning walk works wonders though its painful getting up so early ! Good look and remember its the quality of the time you spend together that count not the quantity - cliched but true ![]() |

| ![]() I had bad luck with the soft-sided mesh exercise pen - Sadie got her head stuck in the small open area in the bottom - fortunately I was home and heard her yelping!!! I finally bought the following ex-pen and absolutely love it - got the 36" high pen so she can't jump out of it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=130018500263 Good luck and don't worry about leaving your pup alone while you work - someone has to pay the bills!!

| ![]() I just retired, but Max was alone from 10 weeks old till 6 months of age. I was a teacher, so in the summer I was home very early since I taught summer school only in the morning, but when I went back in September, I decided to spend the money and send him to a really nice doggy day care 2 times a week. They usually make deals if you buy a package. I've also seen ads for private people to stop in and visit the dog for much less money. If this is above your limit, the truth is that they learn to sleep for most of the time you're gone anyway. This is his Mommy and his life. I'm sure you're a wonderful Mommy, so please think of that whenever the guilt gets you. Coming home with new toys often helps a lot too. I still leave him in his crate when I go out, which happens to fit in the bathroom door, so he has his crate to sleep in and the bathroom to walk around in. I leave some toys, at least 2 chewy toys, food, water, a few treats, the radio, lights and the tv on so that he can hear noise. Now when I come home, he's always warm and cuddly inside his crate so I know he has been sleeping. I don't trust that he won't get hurt if he's loose - he's young. I also think it would make him more anxious since he is still a baby. He's the sweetest, nicest little boy. He's so good and has shown no behavior that shows that he's any the worse for wear having been left home. Good luck with your job hunt - and don't let the guilt put any wrinkles on your face. Happy Holidays! Judy |
