| Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | I'm so sorry for the pain Tia is going through, and all this for your family. I guess I don't understand...?? She's too little to even try a splint? That, at least, would be something.

| You have a real problem - and I've been there. I had a little dog that had one serious problem after another - and the vet's bills added up to a fortune. Then she hurt her back and couldn't lie down. The poor little thing even tried to sleep leaning against the wall. I carried her around the last 48 hours of her life trying to keep her comfortable (and this had been going on - off and on for a month - but getting worse). I couldn't go to work and neither of us could sleep. We were both exhausted. They could have done a lot more tests - myelograms, MRIs, etc. - but it was possible that they may still have been unable to find her problem. Surgery might have been an option if she was found to be operable - but we were looking at $5000 or $6000 there. And - she was over 10 years old and was diabetic (which really wasn't much of a problem - she was perfectly fine on her insulin - but the vet told me that with her diabetes, she could well become blind eventually).... Anyway - I put my little girl to sleep - and it totally broke my heart. And, I have always felt so guilty - and will forever. I shouldn't, but I do. --------- I can imagine the difficulty repairing a fracture on a little dog like yours. I really don't know what I'd do. I worked in x-ray for 20 to 25 years, and believe me fractures just don't heal on their own....not a real fracture. You'd only end up with a painful, deformed, arthritic leg. So - you can't just let most leg fractures go. I can't imagine amputation being an option (but you might mention this to the vet - you know it would cost a lot too.) Also - if you get credit to pay this off - then you'll be paying interest and it will cost even more. ****** I'm afraid you only have two options - pay a fortune or put your little puppy to sleep . And - everyone can say what they want, but a lot of people just don't have the money and can't afford to go into that much debt....especially young people with children and other obligations. Everyone's financial situation is different. I would certainly understand if anyone feels they really can't afford the care that a pet needs. It's heartbreaking, but sometimes our common sense and emotions get so mixed up. I am hoping that you can get some help with this expense - that you won't have to pay back. This is what you really need. I wish you the best of luck - and don't envy you your situation. It's very sad. Carol Jean |

| I am sorry about your baby. I would look into payment plans. I used to really really want a tiny yorkie but hearing recently of injuries to the tiny ones and the huge vet has made me think maybe I am better off with my bigger ones

| I am so sorry about your little Tia. I won't know what to do either. One hand I would say you can work and make money to pay back but you can't get your baby back. But I work 2 jobs to support myself so I know it is difficult to save money. Only thing I can do for you is to pray for you and Tia. I am so sorry. |

| Thank you all for your well wishes, prayers and advise from both perspectives. Tia is back at home resting. I have gotten some good news. The vet here has found a Orthopaedic Surgeon in Winnipeg that will preform the surgery. The fracture is on the bone close to the ankle and involves the Achilles Tendon (sp) so its pretty important to get this done. The good thing about Winnipeg is that it will mean only one flight instead of 2 if I went to Saskatoon. So I have booked a flight for tomorrow( as there are no flights available for Sunday) and have her booked for Monday at 8:00 am. I know that if I don't try and get this fixed, I'll never forgive myself! This has really got me to "take up the cause" about these breeders who breed these small dogs. Tia was a runt and I guess that happens. But to intentionally breed these tiny babies is so maddening.Whats worse, is that the people who get them don't know what they are getting themselves into. I knew, thanks to YT, some of the risks I'd be taking taking on a tiny dog. But the heartache I have had today can't be measured. I'll keep you all posted as to her progress. Again keep us in your prayers that all goes well with the surgery on Monday. Thanks

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Oh no !!! I'm so sorry and it's not hopeless - when we love them we have to do all we can to help them... I want to wish you all the best and a speedy recovery for her. I know some people don't understand how we are with our dogs but they're alot like our children for some people .... My son just went thru a similar experience this morning - his little guy getting better was all that mattered - We didn't have the money up front either - but you can finance it and pay the balance in payments which is what we're doing - so it CAN be done ....His little guy was operated on this morning for a broken back - they said it was a success Good luck |

| I'm so sorry that this happened to little Tia, and I can only imagine the heartache you are going through. But it's good to hear you had a small measure of good news. Once the surgery is done, I'm sure she will be just fine. Tia will be in my prayers on Monday, and hugs to you.

| Bless you and Tia. I am so sorry this happened. Once when my Jazz was a tiny puppy, I was carrying him down the stairs. About three steps from the bottom, our outside dog barked, and Jazz literally jumped out of my arms. He sailed up then fell at least 5 feet to the wood floor. I don't know why he didn't break his leg or his back. I'll be praying for a safe journey, successful surgery, and quick healing. |

| Oh yes, do try to find a way to make payments - it's like a mortgage on your dog! Surely they'll find a way to help her - don't they know she's not a horse?! You can carry her around in a front pack if you have to. Bless that little Tia's heart and please God, heal her tiny little leg. |

| I am so glad there is hope now. These little babies give us such love and joy. I imagine you have had to spend money on other things you didn't enjoy as much as this baby. If it is meant to be, you will find a way. She is so tiny that even if her leg doesn't mend 100%, she will get around fine; and as we all know, they loved to be carried. I agree with you on breeders trying to breed these tiny yorkies on purpose. It really is just another way to charge high prices for a puppy without caring about the health and life of the pups. There is something so wonderful about a yorkie, and I have had dogs all my life. Your baby is very lucky to have been found by you. You are in my prayers.
