You have a real problem - and I've been there. I had a little dog that had one serious problem after another - and the vet's bills added up to a fortune. Then she hurt her back and couldn't lie down. The poor little thing even tried to sleep leaning against the wall. I carried her around the last 48 hours of her life trying to keep her comfortable (and this had been going on - off and on for a month - but getting worse). I couldn't go to work and neither of us could sleep. We were both exhausted.

They could have done a lot more tests - myelograms, MRIs, etc. - but it was possible that they may still have been unable to find her problem. Surgery might have been an option if she was found to be operable - but we were looking at $5000 or $6000 there. And - she was over 10 years old and was diabetic (which really wasn't much of a problem - she was perfectly fine on her insulin - but the vet told me that with her diabetes, she could well become blind eventually)....

Anyway - I put my little girl to sleep - and it totally broke my heart.
And, I have always felt so guilty - and will forever. I shouldn't, but I do.

I can imagine the difficulty repairing a fracture on a little dog like yours. I really don't know what I'd do. I worked in x-ray for 20 to 25 years, and believe me fractures just don't heal on their own....not a real fracture. You'd only end up with a painful, deformed, arthritic leg. So - you can't just let most leg fractures go. I can't imagine amputation being an option (but you might mention this to the vet - you know it would cost a lot too.)

Also - if you get credit to pay this off - then you'll be paying interest and it will cost even more.

****** I'm afraid you only have two options - pay a fortune or put your little puppy to sleep . And - everyone can say what they want, but a lot of people just don't have the money and can't afford to go into that much debt....especially young people with children and other obligations. Everyone's financial situation is different. I would certainly understand if anyone feels they really can't afford the care that a pet needs. It's heartbreaking, but sometimes our common sense and emotions get so mixed up.

I am hoping that you can get some help with this expense - that you won't have to pay back. This is what you really need.

I wish you the best of luck - and don't envy you your situation. It's very sad.
