| Miracle Grout Cleaner?? Anyone??? Please! OKay i think Ive said this before, but my husband got the bright idea to tile our house himself about 2 years ago. We took a class at home depot and then we began the horrible adventure.Well my husband NEVER finishes anything he starts, EVER ( I still have blue painters tape that has been on the trim of my house for 3 years now ). SO needless to say months went by and we had half the house tiled. I got so sick of waiting for him to finish it that I decide to finish it and I layed the rest of the tiles and grouted everythign which I actually did a WAY better job than him, Im surprised and proud to say!lol. I even did most of the baseboards (which this looks pretty bad though ) Well the only thing left to finish was the bathroom. Well my husband bought the cheapest grout sealer possible and it did not work well. And my husband never sealed the bathroom grout (I did the rest of the house but left the bathroom for him) and he never caulked the tub. SO to end my long story, the problem is that PENNY the big girl has had a few accidents in the bathroom and the grout is absolutely ruined. And I dont knwo what to do. Her pee has even run up under the tub. This is of course extremely embarrasing for me to even tell you guys, but I need to know what to do. I think Im actually going to have to pull up the tub( I have no clue how this is going to work), I mean how else will it ever be clean? But the grout, how in the heck do I clean grout? I have 2 other places in the living room that the grout needs to be clean also. SO does anyone have any advice? Moral of my story: DONT let your husband tile your house unless he is the type of person that is determined to finish a project, or he is a professional.

Ive been using some oxy cleaner and that stuff is really bad about eating up the grout sealer and its discolored my current grout. My grout really looks so bad all over the house from different cleaners and from the cheap sealer that we are actually going to have to stain all of the grout in our house a darker color so it will once again match. And i went to home depot and bought some really expensive grout cleaner (you have to use this stuff before you can use the stain) but I dont know if it will be enough to clean out the urine in the bathroom so I was hoping someone might know of something. Should I let bleach soak in the bad spots? I know it will discolor it but Im staining the grout anyways. Any thought on that? Maybe pine sol? Another morale learned from my tile/grouting experience: Do it right the first time! Otherwise it takes more time and money in the long run! The actual best thing to do is hire other people to do the job!

| your not gonna believe this, but i found in home depot or ace hardware store a grout whitner, actually it looks like shoe polish .. exactly in the same kind of bottle.. i just wipe it on the grout in the bathroom and it brightens all back up . of course the grout is white... it works wonders

| My mom actually found this block thing at WalMart (it's not the Mr. Clean one) sold in the same aisle as dishwashing soap and it worked miracles on her grout. She swears by it! |

I think nothing will clean it....just maybe cover it up....... You may have to chip out the old and put in new grout.......I will never again have white grout......by choice. I sealed with the best sealer too....: |

| I did my own tile too sealers suck first pour urine cleaner on let it go over night take fine sand paper and sand grout to take off surface stain then reseal and take high gloss floor wax and paint brush and apply to grout that has been sealed 24hrs prior I used 3 coats first time let dry in between coats and every other month I wax grout again the grout shines and easy to clean I have not had a stain in six months I have 5 dogs and 1 4yr old |

My furkids Donating Member | I think I saw somthing on HGTV about grout...I think they have a stain that you can use...would staining it be an option? I will tell you....my hubby tiled my counters in the kitchen...they look great! But, I will NEVER do this again....first...it looks great! he did a wonderful job and I got the look I wanted...I am very country so I went with a 6" brick colored tile and used the gray grout. It has gotten so gross looking! I have tried everything to clean it and nothing has worked...the counter is clean but doesn't look it...eventually I am going to have the a new counter top put in...next time it won't be tile...and funny thing is...I have tile on the floor in front of out living room door and the grout is cleaner on the floor than on the counter and I never sealed the floor! go figure!

| I don't care how much you seal grout...or what you use, it still gets dirty! I think next time I tile a floor, I'll use a dark grout! Last time I did ceramic was on my kitchen wall, inbetween the upper and lower cabinets. This was this past June. I used a sealer in a spray can this time. Hoping it works better, but then again, this is on a kitchen wall...not a floor! I've used chlorox on my grout in the bathroom...and its a grey color. Chlorox (straight), didn't change the color of the grout...and it did clean it some, but not a whole lot. |
