| Oh bless your heart, Can you try allergy proofing your house in other ways and bathing your dog often to see if that helps him? Could she be limited to areas with hard and/or washable surfaces as well? I pray that you are able to find a solution. |

| How is her skin and coat?? I am allergic to dogs and like most people it it the pet dander that gets me. I give mine baths every week, sweep everyday, wash bedding, clothing, toys, bowls frequently. I bath them in a good moisture that stops any flaking and helps to keep them allergen free. I also take medicine everyday for my allergies and get shots too. Basically you keep the dog and the house clean for the most part. Although, I would make sure that it is the dog your dad is allergic to, I would hate for him to get rid of the dog without knowing for sure. You can have an allergy test done to see what it is his is allergic to. I have yorkies and maltese and they don't shed and I am not very allergic to them but I am allergic to my cocker spaniel. They are my babies and I woulden't give them up for the world, so I do everything I can for me to be allergy free while enjoying my babies. I also have cats too which I am highly allergic to and I do the same thing with them. What seems to have helped the most is the allergy shots. The shot itself doesn't hurt, the needle is so small I don't even feel it. It helps build an immunity to what you are allergic to and has helped sooo much. Good luck, I hope things work out for you!! Oh and your baby is sooo cute!!!

| Yorkies actually are the 'no allergy triggering' dog breed. Maybe your dad could take an allergy test. Allergies often come for no reasons. I never was allergic to anything for most of my (55 y.) life. All of a sudden I became allergic to pollen... It can be a psychological thing too according to my doctor... |

| I agree with the other posts that Yorkshire Terriers are extremely low on the allergy-causing list. Yorkies are actually on the "recommended dogs for allergy people" list: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/allergy.htm I would first see if your dad would give a cleaner dog environment a try -- do the weekly baths, daily brushing, and frequent house clean-up. Remember that is is not the dog hair people are allergic to, it is the pet dander or old dead skin cells that are constantly being shed. Frequent vacuuming and even a good air filter can help quite a lot too. There are also special shampoos that help remove the pet dander. Here is an example, although I have never tried one: http://www.theallergyreliefcenter.co...FTOKEN=8052489 See if that helps. If not....and your dad still believes your dog is the problem, I would ask if you could find a temporary home to "test the theory." Find a friend or family member that would agree to take your dog for a couple of weeks. Then see if dad does have any improvement. It is possible to be allergic to a yorkie, but how can he know for sure without a test. If the temporary separation does show improvement for your dad, then you will have to find another home for your Yorkie. Maybe someone who is close enough that you can still visit and maybe even someone who would consider letting you take her back when you have a home of your own? Good luck to you, your dad and your Yorkie!

| I wish you all the best here. Yorkies are known to be good dogs for allergic folks as their "fur" is much more like hair and they produce very little dander. Please try bathing your baby weekly, and brushing daily. Make sure you are using a good dog shampoo that contains no perfumes. Do a thorough house cleaning, dust and vaccuum very well. Make sure your cleaning products contain no scents or fragrances that could further trigger your dad's allergies. Fall is known to be a major allergy time with the falling leaves and wet weather creating lots of mold spores. If your dad really is allergic to the dog, he will get congested by having the dog on his lap, or if he pets the dog and touches his eyes, they will become irritated. His allergies are probably not related to the dog - its just very easy to blame the animals!!
