I wish you all the best here. Yorkies are known to be good dogs for allergic folks as their "fur" is much more like hair and they produce very little dander. Please try bathing your baby weekly, and brushing daily. Make sure you are using a good dog shampoo that contains no perfumes.
Do a thorough house cleaning, dust and vaccuum very well. Make sure your cleaning products contain no scents or fragrances that could further trigger your dad's allergies.
Fall is known to be a major allergy time with the falling leaves and wet weather creating lots of mold spores. If your dad really is allergic to the dog, he will get congested by having the dog on his lap, or if he pets the dog and touches his eyes, they will become irritated. His allergies are probably not related to the dog - its just very easy to blame the animals!!
