| my yorkie barks at me constantly I have an eight month old yorkie male. i got him from a breeder when he was 2 months old. In the past week he has started barking at me constantly. I have tried everything--like petting him , playing with him, giving him chew toys, taking him outside, putting him in his crate for timeouts, and ignoring him, but nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas why he has all of a sudden changed from being a loving little puppy to driving me crazy all of the time? I'm home with him all the time. Joyce and Indy |

| One of mine does this too. When she does I say "show me". She knows that after I say "show me" I will follow her. If we are outside it means she wants me to come and chase her while she plays keep away with her toy. If we are inside she is "telling me" under no uncertain terms that she wants a treat. When I get up to follow her she usually leads me to the treat jar. I know she is hungry and wants to eat a treat instead of her food so I tell her "no, eat your dog food". She usually stalls for awhile to see if I will change my mind and then goes to her food bowl and eats. It took me a long time to figure this out but now we both understand each other. If she keeps repeating this I just ignore her after the first couple of times and she will go eat. Oh, she will also bark to tell me other things. Once there was some stuff blocking her entry into her crate and she led me to the crate to show me and another time a blanket was blocking her doggie steps to get onto the bed and she came to ask me to move it for her. She has also barked at me like that to show me that her "brother" Teddy Bear is chewing on something he stole from the night stand. I just know when she barks like that she has something to show me. We get a laugh at her little "snitching" episodes. |

| Howie used to do this do for seemingly NO reason. I filled a soda can with pennies and started shaking it when he had his little barking fits. He doesn't do it anymore. He just needed to be put in his place.

| Yorkie's Talk alot! Some Yorkie's talk alot by barking, I think you have to let them know what your limit is? And I don't think it matters what gender they are either, but they usually have a reason; On guard-my Personal Alarm System, to go "Pee Pee" or "Pooh"? They are'nt too demanding when it comes to "Treats" now, I got them off that addiction/obsession b/c it got to the point wher they were expecting one for every task. Artie barks non-stop when he gets frustrated or anxious to go to "Petsmart" or when he's playing and he gets excited, but he's not really a Barker, unlike Abigail who barks at every little noise or when we are watching TV. and she hears or sees a Dog barking or whining! She even attacks the TV. depending on how excited she gets? Most of the time I will let her know when I have had enough by reprimanding her with a loud "SHUSH" or "Hey" and she knows to stop! You need to figure out what they want? Are'nt you glad they can't Talk? I know I am |

| Diesel does this a lot. Lately he was been barking at me when he has to go out. I think a lot depende on what the baark sounds like. Diesel also barks AT my husband a lot. He plays rough with him all the time. Diesel loves it and will bark at home just to get him going. It may take some time to figure it out but he could be telling you he wants something.

| He's a teenager now. Has he been neutered yet? The testosterone his body is producing could be a reason for the change in his personality. Having a quiet little girl myself, I can only wish you the best. |

| Hi all.....Cooper is 4 months and has recently begun being allowed to spend more time in the house (we crate train). He has been doing very well, however, when he goes back into his room (with baby gate) or into crate he has been barking/crying. Im guessing its because he wants to be with us in the house as he has been earning more time, but he is still in training and needs to be in there a bit. I used the pennies in a can trick today and shook it once. It worked!!!!! Cooper went right into his crate and stopped barking. I went in a half hour later to change laundry and played with him for a bit. When i left he began barking. I walked over and got the can...when he saw me coming with it he went right into crate again....no barking. I'm sure hoping this continues as it has worked wonders. I would encourage others to try this method as well. |

| I know this is going to sound crazy but Abbie barks at me when she "catches" me going potty in the house. She does the same thing to my husband! We think she's trying to tell us to go potty outside!!! |
