| Anyone see news about carjacked yorkie yesterday? Hi all, just wondering if any of you saw the news yesterday about the lady's car that was stolen and her beautiful little dog was in it!! The crooks did not realize that there was a dog in the car and sped off. They werent all bad though because they got the # on the tag and called the owners to meet at a place to pick up the pup. They showed a picture in the news and said it was a yorkie...kinda looked like a yorkie mix to me...........what a little doll this dog was, and the owner was in tears and just so relieved to have her back. But there was something that really bothered me.............she said that they left her in the car while they were out to eat and then after they ate they went for a short walk and by the time they got back to the car it was gone! HELLO! When are people going to learn NOT to leave their babies in the car, and that they would be much happier and safter at home while you went out to eat!

| Oh the poor baby... glad to know the owners got him back. BTW... I hate it when people leave their dog in the car when they go out to eat. Me and Hubby went to Red Lobster on Sunday night and when we got there, there was a truck outside with 2 small breed dogs in it, just barking their heads off. About 1 1/2 to 2 hours later when we came out, they are still there. Even though the weather was nice and the windows were cracked, I don't see why people don't leave their dogs at home or at a friends if they are going to go somewhere where they aren't allowed. Sorry needed to vent that one. |

| How terrible! At least she got her dog back. On the subject of leaving the yorkie in the car, I have called the police on ignorant people for doing just that. I was shopping one afternoon and noticed a black pom in the rear window of a BLACK car. In 100 Degree weather! The poor thing was panting heavily and in desprate need of cool air. The car's windows were cracked just barely, I commented and went into the store. About 45 minutes later I returned to see the dog still in the car and in terrible condition. I then notified the police they sent an officer over to look for the owner of the car. I didn't stick around to see what happened, but I do know police can take custody of the animal by any means. I feel awful for not calling sooner. People have got to learn you can't leave living things in a car. |

| Glad they got the yorkie back. I NEVER leave mine in the car! If nothing else, I have a shoulder strapped carrier I put Adonis in, and take him inside with me. And I will call the police if I see a dog in the car in the heat we have here in south Alabama! Thanks for the tip LauraMichelle! I've seen that sooo many times in the past. |

| Your welcome! I never take either of the kids with me if they can not physically be with me! I see no point in lugging your dogs around, only to leave them in the car. Not to mention, yorkies are expensive, criminals know this and leaving one un-attended in a glass box (metaphorically) is only asking for trouble. |

| I learned the hard way. Feb 2005, I took my yorkie, Prince, with me and left him in the car. He usually slept in there (not a hot or cold day) and I left the windows cracked. I took him because my cleaning lady was coming and I forgot to book him to stay at the dog sitter, so I took him while I was inside taking a test at school. Oh my god, that was the biggest mistake of my life. I came out, my car had been broken into (windows smashed) and Prince was gone. I loved that dog with all my heart, I guess I didn't love him enough to protect him and not leave him in the car. I was then notified about 3 weeks later that his body had been found (he was microchipped). Hit by a car. I mean whoever took him just stole him and let him loose! I just died. I am still not over that whole situation and it took me this long to even consider getting another Yorkie. Point is, keep your babies safe and don't leave them in the car. Oh my God, my heart is just aching right now Im so sorry that this happened to your baby. You must feel an overwhelming amount of greif. I guess this is a case of "live and learn" the hard way though. My prayers for you and your baby.

| here in Arizona, it is against the law to leave an animal in a car for ANY length of time at ANY time of year. I have never seen it done. If I have Edie with me, I always take her inside in her bag. Most stores realize that you can't break the law by leaving the dog in your car, so they are generally cooperative. (Mostly they don't even know Edie is in the bag). It is also against the law to tie a dog out. This state isn't the greatest for animal rights but there are a few things that are good about it. |
