| Why are some children so mean towards animals Yesterday my 4 year old daughter was out in our front yard playing and a neighbor kid came in our yard to play. Chachi got outside and was barking at this kid. Hew was 6 years old. Anyway I caught the kid kicking Chachi in the face to get him to stop barking. I was shocked!! I have never had to deal with anything like that. I could understand if Chachi was a big dog and he was scared but Chachi is only 16 weeks old. Why are some children so cruel.

| I'd have to aggree with the talking to the parents. That sort of behaviour is not to be tolerated in a child. |

| Time for family court! I would speak to the parents about this kicking child. Kicking a puppy is like kicking another child. Would be nice if you took your puppy along, for a good pet lesson, for both parents and child. Children are abusive to animals, because they are NOT taught properly. Chelsea'sMom |

| I woke with children alot and my biggest horror is to watch children that tend to be cruel to animals......to me it is a "red flag" for future behavior problems. Many times it is useless talking to parents...unless you can somehow find a spot of empathy hidden in them....kids learn what they live! Taking the pup with you to talk to the parents may help...since it is obviously such a small creature. I like to talk to my grandkids as if Apple or Lil Bit were telling them how small and scared they are! That has worked well with them....Adam (age 4) is sooooo gentle.....Macy ( soon to be 2) MUST BE WATCHED....actually MUST BE within arms reach.....she does fine but in a fit of excitement cannot be trusted! How sad for the pup..... and the kid... |

| children can be mean but they just dont realize how little and fragile liitle animals are. This one kid at church was holding my tinkerbell, and she was play biting him so he decided to throw her on the hard ground. I nearly had a heart attack but luckily she didnt get hurt. Now I dont let children hold my babies

| I would definatly go and see the parents, i can feel my hair raise when i read stories like this, i would also ask the child if he would like U to kick him on his head, u know what does my head in with an incident like this is that ur baby is not going to forget this and might become scared of children and what gets said about it then? oh that yorkie is falls, it bites children while its NOT the dogs fault.... no dog was born mean it gets made that way Dont do to others what u dont want done to u! Most of us teach our children how to love animals and i tend to think that most parents do the same, i guess im SO SO wrong!!

| Chachi, I'm so sorry that happened to your baby. I'm so glad she's OK. Yes, it is how the kids are raised and in a few instances kids are just born with mean streaks. I hope that's not the case with your neighbor's son. I don't know that I'd have the nerve to go talk to the parents. If you know them well and have a good rapport go for it. If they are not good neighbors it may not do any good. Sometimes a gentle reprimand of the child when he's in your yard and a talk of how to treat a small animal will make a huge difference. Good luck.

| I certainly would go to parents. If they don't know they should. Thats just like kicking another kid. (worse at my house) I'd also would of told him if he was going to do that don't come back. My grandkids starting at 3 and going to 15 know they had better not kick any animal while i'm around.

| Sad that some kids do not have any respect of a puppy, if he did it once he will do it again, I would talk to his parents and hopefully they will care and if they act like it is only a dog, then he wouldn't be allowed back at my house. If he did it to Chachi, what is going to stop him from doing it to your 4 year old daughter. I know this may be strange to post, I am not saying the kid will be a serial killer, but I read they have done research an most serial killers abused animals when the were young. Let us know how it goes.

| Our bigger dog, Sandy once was being teased by my son and two of his friends. They thought they were just playing with her, but she didn't find it funny. I got onto all three of them. My son felt really bad and wanted to make Sandy like his friend again, so he took her food, and had the boy take it to give to her. As you can imagine, Sandy was NOT happy about him now having her food, she thought he was teasing her again. So, she snapped at him and it left a small scratch on his leg. Long story short, I had to call the mom and explain what happened, she was not pleased at all. Fast forward a few months and I'll be darned if that same boy and the other boy are not throwing snow balls at Sandy. I hit the roof again, sent them home and made calls to parents. The mother of the boy who had been snapped at was so mad at her son. She suggested we all line up while we throw snow balls at them and let Sandy watch! It was funny. I was just glad that she understood Sandy's point of view and took it seriously. They boys are better about not teasing her anymore. They all love her, they just forget to play nice sometimes. Sandy had no problem reminding them either!!!
