| Spaying!!! Hello! 2 weeks ago we took Carly for her check up before her spaying, and ever since I have been so nervus about this surgery. My Carly is 2.9 lbs at 1 year & 1 month. She is getting her surgery on Friday September 22 and she needs 1 tooth pulled. I have to drop her off at 7am & pick her up at 5pm. My Husband and I are very nervous about the whole thing (she is our baby). I almost feel sick about it, and I keep thinking about the day I have to drop her off and leave her at the vet. Don't get me wrong I want her to get the surgery and be healthy and everything, but her size worries me. Is this normal? Has anyone else gone through this? I would like to hear your stories. Thanks

| I'm nervous too My Pheobe is getting fixed tomorrow, and I can't wait to get this over, so I will drop her at the vet at 7:30 and pick her around 3:00 to 5:00 so I cancel everything today, so I can make sure she eat, drink, rest plenty today. My biggest fear is how can I take care of her after the surgery to make her recovery fast and easy (will ask the vet for that). She will also have her second Lyme Disease vaccine too. My husband is nervous too but he is stronger than I am (I am a basket case). She is our first yorkie but we have 2 thirteen year old cats, Mindy and Skeezic. They are sweet but scared of Pheobe. We only have her for two months and she has too much energy and enthusiasm for them right now. Back to the spaying situation I will pray for you too, just leave it to God and have faith that he will take care of everything. |

| Our Sara was spayed at 6 months of age and she weighed 3 pounds. They kept her all day, and when we picked her up she was drowsy and tired. She slept all night, and by the next morning, she was feeling great. We gave her pain medication for the first 2 days, but she was actually running and playing the next morning. Good luck, and don't worry... |

| Oh, and I forgot to tell you that Sara had 4 teeth pulled and got her microchip the same day she was spayed. She just cuddled up on my lap the first evening and slept. |

| I've had three dogs spayed and have never had a problem. They certainly did sleep a lot when they first got home, but within only a day or two, they were totally back to normal. Try not to worry! I had my little boy neutered last Monday. He couldn't keep his eyes open all the way home - but the minute I sat him down in the house, he ran over and kissed his best friend (my other dog) - drank a gallon of water, and ate like there was no tomorrow --- then he crashed for the rest of the day - and the next day, he acted like he had never had anything done. (He also had two teeth pulled.) Carol Jean Last edited by SnowWa; 09-07-2006 at 08:29 PM. |

| I understand completly. Summer just got spayed Wed. She is only 3.5 pounds and she is 9 months old. I was soo nervous and plus she had 4 teeth pulled all 4 of her canines. She did soo good. The first day she was really sleepy and the next morning. She was a lot more active last night and this morning but they say to not let them climb stairs, run alot, or jump. So we have been really careful. I was extremly nervous though like every since I decided I was going to spay her bc she is really tiny too. It will all be fine I have read that you should get the blood wrk done before they put her under too. So I paid the extrato have it done bc its really good it lets you know if they can handle the anthesia (sp?) and they said if she gets sick or anything later on that will give us a baseline. So it was definitely worth the extra money to me. I really hope this helps. Also if you do a search on here there are some really good post about spaying.
