It will vary. As with a human they are not all the same. Do you know how many pups she is expecting? How much does she weigh? How much did the sire of the pups weigh? When she is getting close to first delivery you should be able to both see and feel the first pup making its way into the pelvis just prior to birth.

I am not quite sure what you mean? I have had puppies born with several sacs around the puppy itself. Just make sure that once the puppy is all the way out that the sac is removed quickly. My girls always let me do it. I am too nervous a person to wait for them to remove the sacs. I tie and cut the cords, suction the pup, clean it off and then give it to mom. That is my way. Maybe others prefer to let the mothers handle it.

If you have a heating pad, put it on low and cover it with a towel so you can put the puppies on it while the mother is having the next pup. In the meantime let the mom nurse the pup until she is pushing for the next puppy.

| I don't know that much about it but isn't it a good idea to rub the stillborn with a towel or something to stimulate him and maybe get him going? Just a thought. Good luck!

I worked on a puppy for 30 minutes once and was able to bring it around, rub it with a towel and hold it between your hands with head down and gently swinging it between your legs without being forceful and holding whole body helps to remove the fluid in the lungs. Also drying them with a low speed, low heat dryer helps to warm them up quickly. But with nature sometimes there is nothing that can be done and it is just that way. Not your fault. Sometimes a placenta will get torn away by a previous puppy and the puppy will suffocate before it is born. Other times who knows. Your doing great. Keep us updated.
