| I wasn't in anyway trying to be rude, so forgive me if I came off that way...However, Hitting a 3-7 lb dog is like hitting an defenseless newborn baby. Can you imagine, someone 3 times your size hitting you with something that is used to kill bugs. Also, God forbid your Mia gets pregnant there is a greater chance of severe complications there with the possible need of a C-section, than it would be with the neutering of Mason... I am in the same place as you, it is coming up on the time Monte should get neutered and he is going to have it done even though, he is the only dog. So, I am not telling you to do something to your dog that I wouldn't have done to my baby...

I am sorry but I ABSOLUTELY disagree with this statement and unfortunately I often get the end results into rescue because of people hitting their dogs. There is not an animal behaviorists, vet, animal expert or reputable rescue organization in the world that would condone hitting a dog or any animal for that matter. You can pick up book after book that will agree with me but even if I didn't read and study as much as I can, I have seen it in the eyes of a dog that has been hit. Fear is not a pretty sight in an animal and when an animal becomes fearful they will lash out or shut down. Our job is to be guardians to our animals and they deserve kindness and humane treatment for being so loyal and loving to us. I can only ask each person who hits their dogs how would you feel if you were the dog being hit? Would you be scared? Where could you go? Could you run away? Who would feed you? Animals depend on us to protect them and love them and in return they give us undying loyalty. In my book hitting is just not an option.

Number one Rae Rae, spanking and not hurting is an oxymoron...the very nature of spanking should allegedly administer enough "pain" and fear to act as a negative deterent to unwanted behavior. Otherwise...you would blow a feather over his head as a distraction. What is not addressed is the long term behavorial fall-out from the use of this type of training, which has been well documented in the last 25 years. Number two, physical punishment and its impact on the emotional and physical health of our Yorkies is EVERYONE'S concern here on Our Yorkies. A "Belief" system is not as simple as stating you like Apples or Oranges. The myriad of helpful training books, Videos, and personal experiences from many of the experienced breeders and members here, gives ample opportunity for those willing to learn how to be knowledgable, and humane caregivers and trainers for the pets that have become part of our family. Perhaps this should have been a consideration when you got a new puppy? If you were so afraid of neutering one, perhaps it would have been wiser to have same-sex dogs? This may be something that you need to think seriously about before beginning a rescue program, too. You are going to have to have those dogs neutered. Are you going to be able to handle it emotionally? I'm glad to read that you are going to have him neutered. Belly bands are not effective in preventing pregnancy!

I must have missed that. What I have seen is quite a bit of rudeness and defensiveness on your part when you were offered sound advice that you ASKED for. I believe you responded to some of the best advice as 'crap'. If you didn't want actual advice you should have just asked for sympathy.
