| I am puppy hungry!-- Advice please... I have had this undeniable urge to get puppy #2. I know Keeley would LOVE to have a "brother" or "sister". Everytime I see pics of 2 dogs playing together it breaks my heart that Keeley doesn't have that. HE LOVES going to daycare. He is extremely social and gets along with the other dogs so well. The people who run the day care are always telling us how he is the "life of the party". I just don't know if right now is the right time... I am going to be finishing school this fall. But then again, we already have one fluffy friend and he is spoiled and well taken care of, another one would get the same treatment. Can people please tell me the PROS and CONS of having 1 vs. 2, 3, 4... And would you suggest getting another yorkie? Or another breed? |

I know what you mean though. It just breaks my heart when Coco gets all sad when her playdate goes home or when I hear about other people's doggies playing together all day long. I feel like a horrible mom when I hear those stories.

| I am puppy hungry I think a puppy doesn't really need a 'brother' or 'sister'. If he goes to puppy daycare then that probably means you're not home all the time. Two dogs are like two kids...you don't know who made the mess, who started the tussle, etc. and will be a LOT harder than one puppy. In my opinion, you should just enjoy your dog and play with him. Also, with one pet you can take him everywhere with you(some hotels allow pets, family and friends don't mind too much if one little yorkie comes with you but I don't think they'd feel the same way about two). With one, there's also no jealousy between dogs. I think you'll bond much more with Keely if you keep him an only yorkie. That's just my opinion though. |

| I have two and they adore each other. They would really miss each other if one went away. I believe they are less demanding of your attention when there are two. So if you want them to be really clingy, i would say no. If you enjoy watching them play more than having them on your lap, then I'd say yes. They still sit on your lap, just not nearly as much. |

| When to get a 2nd puppy was a tough decision for Dan & I. We wanted one shortly after we got Jazzie but we decided to wait until she was five years old before we finally did it. The main reason we waited (beside the $$ issue) is we didn't want 2 babies to get old at the same time. I kept on thinking about "Where the Red Fern Grows" and couldn't bear the thought of losing 2 babies close together. Some one mentioned the size of their home being too small. I don't think our little babies mind a small space. They are so small already so it's got to be like a estate to them! Don't let that stop you if that is your only reason for not getting #2! Of course adding #2 mean more #2 to pick-up!!!

| When I first rescued a sister for Kramer (5 yr old yorkie) he pouted for about 2 weeks and wouldn't even let me hold him. After he got use to Maddie (chihuahua) they adored each other. They would play chase for hours, clean each others faces and sleep together. It definetely made it easier to leave him at home. When Kramer was killed, I got Dylan hoping that Maddie would develop a similar relationship with him. I've had him for 4 months now and she still doesn't like him very much. He is pretty annoying though and I'm hoping when he settles down a little and matures that she'll like him more. Now, whenever he gets close, she growls at him and he barks and barks at her. I did catch her cleaning his face while he was sleeping the other day so there is still hope they will eventually get along. I would love to have another yorkie but I think I have my hands full for now. My son dumped his Jack Russell / s**tzu on me. She is very sweet only a little to energetic for me. Anybody with a fenced in back yard want a Jack Russell? |

| I like having two dogs. Before having 2, I felt kinda guilty whenever I would leave Britney alone at home.. even for the shortest amount of time. Also, the majority of the time, having two dogs isn't all that much harder than owning just a single dog. The only time it becomes somewhat of a problem is when I am walking them (I live in the city) and one wants to stop and pee and the other wants to keep walking and then they wanna play, etc. It's amazing when you have two dogs how different their personalities are.. so I also like that about having multiple dogs. Overall, I really enjoy having two dogs. I would love to have more if I could. Britney, my original dog, doesn't act any differently after getting Brooklyn than she did before.

| Definately More Is Better It has been my experience that having more than one, especially if you work during the day, is better for them. Just like most people want friends and someone to be with (husband, wife, partner) I believe dogs want that closeness with their own too and it doesnt take away from the affection they show you. Just like it doesnt take away from the affection you show them even though you have someone to be with.
