If you have the right pet bag and you are not showing off your yorkie you can get in to anywhere I find. Little kids will notice her first. Mya is dark the inside of her bag is black, I keep a black towel in it, the mesh is black and she is very, very quiet. I have taken her to my restaurants and had her under the table where she was not noticed. I always make sure her bag is sitting in an airconditioned car or the house before I put her in it. I only zip it up to keep her head behind the mesh if I feel the store maybe a problem. Mostly she sleeps.

When Kloey was here with me I took her into a local GNC and the lady just loved her, in walks this couple and takes a look at me holding Kloey in my arms and says, "well if her dog can be in here then so can ares" and this man walks out to his car and gets his golden ret and walks him in, my mouth just dropped, I could not believe he did that. anyways....

so far Lillie has went to the Library with me in her bag and I was a nervous wreck, i thought for sure she was going to bark lol, she went into a local hardware store, Barnes and Nobles, Victoria Secrets, Post office, K-Mart, Wendy's, Logans Road House, A outside Mall, Sally's Hair upply (and was asked not to bring her back in again lol) pet stores, banks, outside ice cream place and this woman just went crazy over here.

I will not leave her alone if we are going somewhere and going to be gone more then a hour and I will not leave her in the car so if we go somewhere she goes and if they want to kick me out then so be it!
You can leave a kid in a car alone so why should you be able to leave a pet?

Old Navy is extremely pet friendly. They even let you have them on leash walking around, all dogs.

Costco is extremely UN pet friendly. They are not even law abiding in regard to service animals.

As far as the Service Animal fake vest thing, i am not sure if it was serious or not, but I encourage you to not do that. I am actually prescribed a service animal to assist me with Anxiety attacks and carry a letter from my doctor. I have a hard time sometimes because of people that lie about their animals. If you are advised by a healthcare professional to get an emotional support animal and can get documentation from them great, but please don't lie about it. It makes it more difficult for people that have prescribed small service animals when employees encounter persons that are lying about it. It is already hard enough to educate people about the fact that not all service animals are seeing eye dogs.

Do you mean can't? I think a child and a pet is a lot different under terms of the law. Even though we all consider our dogs are children, not everyone does. Also, I don't think a pet would "accidently" put a car in gear and drive off...I've heard soo many stories of kids doing that in the past year or so, but none of animals lol.

I'm afraid mine would do that too...even though she doesn't bark...that probably would be the time that she does :-)

It was the day we went to get her, and we didn't want to leave her in the car along. So we took her into Bob Evans. We put her in a regular sized purse, and put some blankets over her. Then when we were about to leave I just walked out petting her. A bunch of people were looking. It was sooo halarious

When Mojo was itty-bitty, four months old, we took him into Wal-Mart, just to pick up something (nowhere near the food) and the door greeter said "no animals". So we just left and didn't do our business there for awhile (as if that affected them any).

We stopped at a gas station (a little crappy country one, that is dirty) to get gas, stepped in the door to pay and the lady yelled at me to take him out, so I told that he was cleaner than her fat a$$ and anything in the store. I was so mad...come on, you walk in the door, the counter is right there! Geez.

When Mojo was little, we took him antique shopping with us and went into a candy shop, the lady thought I had a baby (Mojo was wrapped in his blankie) and then when she realized, we had to leave, so I loudly told my daughter that we would buy our candy from the other store from now on. That same day, we ate outside on a patio at a little cafe and the manager spent more time talking to us about Mojo than doing his job! We also went in the other candy store (I actually stood outside, until they asked why I wasn't coming in) and they told me to come in, that they didn't care!

We take him inside the bank all the time. In fact, they all get upset if we don't bring him. They even buy special treats for him, because he won't eat the kind that they keep on hand! Isn't that funny?!

I am afraid of causing a scene, so Mojo normally stays home while we run our errands. He has never liked to be in a bag....has to be in my arms to see the world. But he is quiet and doesn't bark much, would kiss a person to death though.

I meet one lady at a green house with her Yorkie and said that she goes everywhere with her. And that they quit going to the places that wouldn't allow her to come in. She knew that didn't affect or hurt the places, but she just didn't understand why she wasn't allowed to bring her in. I would love to do that, but in my area, there just aren't many places to go.

I think that we should live in a pet friendly world! I would rather my little guy be in the store than some kids and people I have seen! I do not see any harm in taking in a little dog that is carried in her arms and never let down. My husband and I were just talking about that because we are going away for the weekend and can't take Mojo (my parents are house sitting for us, so Mojo will be in his own home).

I can understand the food places and I know that if you let one do it, all will have to do it (regardless of size) and some owners may disobey the rules and let theirs down to pee or poop on the floors, but still..............

If people are disruptive, they are asked to leave an establishment. The same could be said for pets. If your pet pees or disrupts, they shoudl be asked to leave. I don't see how a dog in a bag is going to hurt anyone. They could make rules so that we could take our dogs more places. I work all over..sometimes 1 hr away and it can be difficult when having a dog that you can't take anywhere so I got the celltei carriers and one from target (hobo bag) with the hopes of sneaking him in. So far, I always zip his head up if there is any food in the place (like a convienent store) and no one has noticed...or I don't think they have noticed. I can't tell how bulky the bag looks on me...if I look out of place. The problem is...when the bag moves...

Default Funny but Sad

We used to be able to take dogs into Home Depot. This happened about a year ago.....I was going to go in the the "greeter" told me that dogs were no longer allowed in the store. Well to say the least I was a little upset...I lived 45 minutes away and was only going in for a can of paint...Anyway, my daughter is a hairdresser and one of her customers works there. I told her the story and she told me the reason for this.....There is an elderly man that used to go in there frequently with his 3 little Maltese, they were never tied in, and they weren't the friendliest little guys...Well, I guess the man had gone into the mens room and left the dogs in the carriage..When he came out of the mens room he was NAKED!! He was very confused and wasn't making any sense so they called an ambulance...The people in the store tried to take the dogs out of the carriage and they wouldn't let them near them..Of course I'm sure all the confusion didn't help either...Sooooo....No more dogs in Home Depot!

This weekend I took my bf's nephew w/ my to petsmart and I thought of another reason why dogs aren't allowed everywhere. His nephew is 5yrs old and afraid of most dogs...even Rocky. I told him there would be dogs there and he was scared, but still wanted to go..so after some convincing that dogs aren't bad, he was cool about it and acted very brave. Anyways, back to my point, there are alot of people afraid of dogs, big dogs, small dogs, medium dogs, etc. Now put yourself in that position, IF you were afraid of dogs, or any other animal for that matter, and that animal was allowed in the stores. I don't think many people would be to happy if THEY had to switch stores just because a fraction of the population thinks they can't leave their dog at home for an hour. This made me think, that what if dogs were allowed everywhere, and I had a kid that was afraid of dogs. What if I couldn't take my kid anywhere because there would be dogs there and he started screaming and making a scene because he was so scared?

Another reason is allergies, some people are allergic to dogs. Imagine if you had to go out of your way, because your local convience store allowed dogs and everytime you went in their you broke out in hives or had a worse reaction.

*These are just some reasons I thought of as to why dogs probably aren't allowed in certain stores. Everyones bringing up the cleansiness issue, but I think these are understandable reasons too. As for each individual store, I have no idea why they allow/don't allow dogs

I don't think that the kids in the car thing is just about them driving off alone. Exposure to the elements can be deadly when lock in a vehicle. I live in Texas and there is always a report of an animal or a child being cooked to death in a hot vehicle. I agree that if you can't (and shouldn't) leave a child in a vehicle the you shouldn't leave an animal in one. If I tried to go into walmart with my child in a dirty diaper, no shoes, no clothes, messing hair, snot running down it's face, and filthy feet people would stare but nothing would be said (I've seen it!). But if I bring my freshly bathed, shiny, brushed, smell pretty, Daphne in there I risk being kick out. That is just plain ignorant. Some of the kids (and adults) are more unhygenic than my dog and probably more likely to bite!
