| New Yorkie owner and neurotic. I got my first Yorkie the beginning of the year. Toby. He was perfect. Everything I expected and everything I ever wanted. I had him neutered. He never seemed to recover. I took him back to my vet and was told there was nothing to worry about. I went ahead and found a specialist and set an appointment. Toby died the day I made the appointment. My only guess was some liver issues. Although that is just and only a guess. I was and still am devastated. I have gotten a new puppy. (from a different breeder) (one I had already planned on getting before Toby past.) I thought long and hard about getting this little girl. I was so afraid it was toooooooo soon after Toby. But I prayed and prayed and found that it was meant to be. Lizzy. She is in no way a replacement for Toby. But she is such a joy and I tell her stories of her older brother all the time. We have bonded thru Toby. The breeder I got Lizzy from is wonderful! She had Lizzy tested for everything including any liver issues. She continues to call wanting to know how we are doing. I am now going crazy. Every time she looks funny, moves her head, stumbles or just plain breathes and I want to take her to my NEW vet. I have always been a very neurotic pet owner and now I am reaching new heights. I see her in the mornings after she has eaten rubbing her head on the carpet. I see her wobbling while playing. I know I know this can be just what it is….puppiness. Sorry for such a long post…. I just wish someone would pat me on the shoulder and tell me everything is and will be ok. I know this can’t happen. But I love that I have found this site and feel like maybe someone out there can relate. NanaYork |

| After what you went through with Toby I am sure you are quite nervous. This should pass as time goes by and we all get a bit nervous when there are babies in the house. Good luck and welcome to YT |

| Your fine!!! Hey I havn't gone through half of what you have, and I am an overprotective mommy to Moe, even Moe is getting tired of my constant mothering.I read lots on this forum, and some of the "freak" accidents that have caused people to lose thier babies, has me on high allert......so obviously you having actually lost a baby will be at an even higher level of protective awareness.Your not crazy, you just care....and once your baby gets a bit older and shows you she is a toughie, you will begin to find yourself calming down.Moe fell down our staircase only just today, now he has been up and dowwn then hundreds of times since Dec, it just goes to show, keeping a watchfull eye and planning ahead for what may be isn't always a bad thing.I now am watching him to see that he is o.k. he is limping, but he does have LCP.... anyways your doing a great job.....and braver than me to lose one and get back into the swing of things so soon! I commend you.

| I am so very sorry to hear that you lost Toby -- and happy for you regarding Lizzy. I think it is perfectly natural to be nervous....hopefully in time, you will feel more safe and secure. Sounds like Lizzy had a good start from a GREAT breeder and you now have a skilled vet to help take care of her. |

| Welcome to YT! I am so sorry that Toby passed away. As far you being neurotic you can count me into that club as well. I totally understand what you are saying about any strange move they make you want to take them to the vet. Honestly Georgie has been to the vet more in the first 5 months than most dogs in a lifetime. If he had diarrhea I take him to the vet if he threw up once I take him to the vet. The only thing that I will tell you is that I found myself worrying more about him than enjoying him in my life. When I realized that I started to change now when he coughs I don't call the vet or when I find him eating a stick I don't freak out because he could choke.Or when he jumps off the couch I don't run over to him and check his legs and paws unless he seems to be hurt (which by the way we have doggy steps I think he is just a daredevil LOL). I am still cautious but I make sure that my caution doesn't interfer with my precious time with him. Post some pics of Lizzy we would love to see her

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry for your loss, yet glad you found another baby to share your love with. I too am overprotective of Cali. But my reasoning is better to be safe than sorry. She has had more than her share of health issues and I don't want to take chances so my vet's love me! I know how you feel i found that I was so weary of worrying about her so I am trying to relax more and not read into every time she acts off a liitle. Cali did that face rubbing on the walls when she was younger but has since stopped. Try to relax and enjoy her!

| I am sorry to hear about your baby Toby. The loss is a tremendous blow to us emotionally. Alot of us on YT have lost a baby at one time or another so we truely do understand where you are at... I am very happy for you that you have a new little one to help with your healing and to showerwith love and attention. I pray for a strong, healthy, happy life with her!!! It takes time to learn about how these little ones work... they are stinkers sometimes, but that is why we love them so... My Jazz rubs her face on the carpet too... it could be allergies, possibly hay fever that causes them to do that, a dirty face from eating or it could also just feel good to them. I take a wash rag and wipe down her muzzle, and underbeard, and of course let her chew on it and that seems to help her.. I hope you really do enjoy your little lizzy... They are so much fun!!! Blessings Chel |

| I am so sorry about Toby and congrats on your new baby!! It is OK to be neurotic, after all, most of us on YT are!!! We obsess about how much they eat, blood sugars, poop and what's in the poop, every single ingredient of their food and treats, shampoos, etc. The list goes on and on and on...It is perfectly normal to worry so about Lizzy with what you went through. And here, we all worry as well, so join our club!! We are here to support you and to help answer any questions you may have, no matter how minor and unimportant they may seem. Welcome again to YT!! We're glad you are here!

| Welcome to YT. How sad for you to have to go through all that with Toby. I'm glad Lizzy came into your life and is helping you along. You are right, no one can tell you everything will be all right. But you have to trust your instincts. Sissy scratches her head by rubbing all over the floor, too. She is forever bumping into things. She also has a minor case of LP in one leg and we've been dealing with giardia, diarhea and no longer eating her food - but she is still one of the best things to ever come in to my life. Just love Lizzy lots and take it one day at a time. You'll love it here on YT.

| I know how you feel - but you'll get over it..... I lost two cats and the favorite dog of my life last year (within six months). This left me with one dog - my Bichon. So - I got a bird - and I was afraid to death that it was just "going to die" from something. I checked on it 10 times a night the first week I had it - and it did just fine - so I got over worrying about my bird. Then, I got a little Yorkie - and, of course, you read and horror stories about little Yorkie pups and all their problems - so I worried and watched him night and day for the first couple weeks I had him. Well - he has done just fine. Granted, like all pups, he has had runny stools a couple times and has thrown up a couple times - but nothing that was ever anything at all. He's as healthy as a dog can be. So now I no longer worry about him. I lost so many animals in such a short period of time - that for a while I was just afraid that something else was going to happen. But - it didn't. Now we play and have fun. We don't worry anymore. We pee on the floor and poop on the carpet and chew things we shouldn't from time to time....... but that's life - right! Good luck - Carol Jean |
