| My Satch is 8 months old and even in the house on a hot day he pants from the heat. There is no way I would let him stay outside.I loved my Dad but I could not have stayed in his house if he expected my pup to be outside.I either stay home with my dogs now or make sure ahead of time that wherever I will be staying my dogs are welcome. It saves lot of uncertainty.Maybe your parents could come visit you instead of your being there. I really feel for poor Zoie, she is the one that can feel the tension .Before saying you will stay, explain to your Dad that to you Zoie is like your child and you have to do what is best for her just like he did what was best for you as a child.Get it out into the open though,I am sure that your Dad would want Zoie in the house if he realized the danger her health is in with the hot temps. Good luck and I hope everything works out for all of you.

I think part of the problem is that my dad just retired this past month and doesn't have anything to do but find things to gripe about...my dog, my mom, my mom's cooking, my mom's LACK of cooking, his loud grandkids, etc. He seems unhappy and is just looking for things to be more unhappy about. My brother in law said the same thing and he and I don't usually have the same point of view. I do hope my dad lightens up. Zoie is in the shade here most of the time (trees and a covered porch) It's windy here ALL the time, so there is always a breeze. And she comes inside for several naps a day as well as ALL night. I've had little dogs before and I make sure she has fresh water. As my dad finds things to do outside the house, we bring her in to play!!! Thanks for the thoughts folks :-) | |

| I had Logan out at my mom's farm Tuesday night & it was hot so in order to cool off my little man took a dip in the pond. So maybe since there are little kids about you could get a kiddie pool or set up the sprinkler than everyone can play in the water & cool off. I understand about your dad, my dad is the same way. Everything goes through mom & he always seems to be pissed off. However, my dad likes dogs, but he doens't like it when logan gets to playing & barking. It sounds like the family is stressful right now period, with a grumpy dad & new baby. I would just suggest spending some alone time with your baby. Let her know that it's okay & this won't be forever. She's probably a bit nervous about all the stuff going on.
