| Ok-I am a little confused here-I have a human child & a furbaby. I love my son to death & would do anything for him. I also love my puppy Tyson & he is my love as well. Your pets are your family-you have to take them to the doctors, feed them & entertain them much like humans. This is a forum that is about Yorkies-we discuss everything from humans-Yorkies-to crickets. This thread happened to be about purchasing your dog from a pet store. Many of us have-before we knew about puppy mills or farms. I thank my Lord everyday fro the air I breathe, for my son & many things. God is good all the time. I thank him for giving me the ability to take care of my son & my dog. Trust & believe me-there is no better, bigger or shiner bling bling than my son-but I also have a ruby in my Tyson |

| My mom's yorkie (Rocky) was from a pet store. We were lucky with him... He is in perfect health and just the smartest sweet dog ever... He is a big yorkie though at 9lbs. but it really doesn't make a difference to us, we love him jsut the same. We wern't as lucky with our 1st. puppy we bought from a pet store..... We bought a mini. long hair dapple dauchsund (Hunter) He was the most awsome dog.... He would switch nights between sleeping with my mom and step dad and me.... One day we came home and he couldn't move.... we rushed him to the vet and he was paralized from the waist down.... We had surgery done on him to see if it could correct it but it didn't work, and after the surgery the vet just happend to tell us that he had a disc deteriating disease and even if he would get better for a while, his discs would eventually diteriate and it would be untreatable...... We now know that the disease is passed down from the parents and if it would have been a good breeder then we would not have got a pup with that problem b/c it is something you test the parents for..... (like LP and LS) Crystal

| It looks like the post I was referring too is gone. Sorry for your confusion. It was stated in the post-and I paraphrase-the poster wanted to know if we loved our children also. And taht we should Thank our Lord that we have children |

| I have never purchased from a pet store; however, 25 years ago I did sell some of my Harlequin Great Danes to a pet shop. I only gave them a one week window to sell them before returning them and I also insisted that they be placed in this large window showcase at the mall that had a solid bottom, no cages. All five of them sold in 3 days for $1000.00 each. The ironic thing - I was only charging $300.00 and wasn't getting any calls! |

| My Harry is from a pet shop. The only "defect" that he had was that he only had one testicle but he came from a small breeder because his parents are CKC certified. So i know for a fact that my baby didnt come from a puppymill. My mom got me Harry for Christmas 3 years ago as a present because i just lost my Siberian Husky (had to give her away...she bit me ) I was very sad but I just love my Harry so much. |

| I got my Yorkie from a small family-owned pet store where I live. It has been in business for more than 50 years and has a good reputation. My Yorkie is happy and healthy --- and all that you would want in a pet. I received papers to register my pup a few weeks after I purchased him - and got the name of his breeder and have talked with her many times. Plus she has sent me pictures of his parents and has told me all about them. So --- I have had no problems with my little guy from a petstore. Carol Jean |

| This is crazy today i was at work and this lady was talking about getting her daughter a pup from a pet store...and this other lady came to her and said " NO DONT EVERY BUY UR PUP FROM A PETSTORE!" Now i didnt understand so i asked her...and told her i got my furbaby from a petstore...but the breeders own it..(at least thats what i was told)..so when i got home i looked up puppymills..cause the lady told me to check it out...and i was in tears...so then i called the store where i got my baby from and asked to speak with the breeder..they got on the phone and i asked them, are they really the breeders? and guess what they told me....... NO THEY ARE NOT! THEY GET THEIR PUPS IN FROM OTHER BREEDER AND THEY SELL THEM FOR THE BREEDERS...AND THEY ARE NOT A BREEDER BUT THEY ARE VET NURSES...I went insane especially after i read and saw the puppymills site...i was ready to cry again...My Wyatt is beautiful and so was my Reco...i wouldnt trade them for the world...but its sad and i know now to do my homework before buying anything now a days!....

| Bruce was purchased for me by my mother at a puppy store (they only sell puppies), she was very naive about puppymills and the people at the store really lied to her about his origins...No problems with temperment (except he has been slightly aggressive recently but a behaviorist is sure this is fear after having been attacked and we can fix it). He is loving, affectionate, and very smart....Physically however he is the poster child for why you should not buy from a place that sells milled dogs...While he is happy and healthy now this is only after 2 root canals to shorten his teeth so they did not puncture the top of his mouth, a jaw surgery to fix his bite so he could eat properly (this was done w/ the root canals), severe allergies, LP that needed surgery in both knees...It it is just so awful to me that because of the greed of a few horrible people my innocent and sweet baby has had to go through all this in order to be healthy and enjoy life...NEVER BUY A DOG FROM A PET STORE!!!

| I am not sure if this is worse than buying from a pet store and I must confess my ignorance when buying a dog at that time; I bought my first Yorkie in 1992 from a stupid flea market. Boy, did I pay dearly money wise for buying from a flea market. Chip had sever health problems and I tried in vain to save his live to the tune of $10,000 and I am not lying when I say how much. Unfortunantly, no amount of money would have saved his live, I ended up having to put him down because the vets couldnt do anything more for him. |
