| Benson I also have a fairly large yorkie. Benson weighs a little more than 11 lb. The last time he saw the vet she called him a "sausage". He''s supposed to be on a diet. We have a s**tzu who is 14 years old and isn't eating as much and Benson will nail her food when she doesn't eat it. He really eats most anything, celery, lettuce, oranges, anything . . . and it causes food wars between the two of them. |

| large Yorkies I did get my Amos from a good breeder and his mom and dad are 7lbs each. His sister is 5lbs and his brother Archie is 7lbs but Amos is now 10lbs and 5 months old. He is not from a puppy mill or back yard breeder. According to breeder and vet. he is not mixed. His grandparents: were 7lbs and 6lbs. So what say?? I believe its true what the vet and breeder said; the original breed averaged 15lbs and only lately breeders have tried to down breed in size. So, size dose not mean they are not purebred. | LOL I completely understand. My yorkie is a pure breed and i got the papers to prove it... i guess he is another mutant. He is only 8 months and he is already weighing 13.5 lbs. I love him this long and big, gives him more character. Also he can take more punishment in our playing lol and he has the stance to jump really high which is always a crowd pleaser. I am a big yorkie lover |

| Yorkies can come bigger I found this on the internet from a breeder Yorkshire terriers range from 2 and half to 15 pounds. Yorkie bodies can be boxy or long. Their legs range from short doxie like legs to too long. I like the small to medium length legs. Yorkie hair comes in a wide range of styles, some a complete nightmare others have very manageable hair. Long haired Yorkies require daily care and should not go out in the woods. Yorkie Hair is ideal when it hangs down straight and not too stiff but also not too light and fury. And then of course a part down the middle from head to tail. You will always be taking a chance that your puppy will be bigger that you wanted. Some can be as big as 15lbs. or even 20lbs |

this is what i researched also it said rat's and mice are two different specie's on another bio lol.. A giant rat is a rat that is substantially larger than its other rodent cousins. Rodents of unusual size, do appear in nature such as the Capybara Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris, Gambian Pouched Rat, Cricetomys gambianus, adult specimens of which have been known to attain upwards of 3 feet (91 cm) in size from nose to base of tail; and the caviomorphs of South America regularly top the scales at over 200 lb (90 kg) in weight. However, the most noteworthy giant rats appear as monsters in fiction, role-playing games, computer games, and other venues of fantasy. | |

| Just what the Doctor ordered Man am I glad I came on line today to find this thread. I was about to post a new thread and whine about how one more person told me that Sully is probably not full Yorkie and cause he's too big and he's probably a mix and that I got "ripped off". I find myself explaining to these people that yes I have papers that say he's a Yorkie and no he's not too big. I know the standard is 7 pounds. I know he's big for 6 months (10 lbs). When I insist, they just look at me like I'm a dope. Sometimes these Friggin New Englanders are "wicked rude".....oh wait, I AM a New Englander....LOL |

| What is wrong with this picture Okay, so this is still bugging me that I keep being told Sully is "bogus" and not a real Yorkie. I mean really! What is wrong with people? Why do they insist on making me feel bad instead of just saying..."cute dog". Here's are the things that this last person pointed out to me: 1. His coat is not "silky". 2. He's too heavy - 10 pounds, 6 months 3. His nose is too long 4. His ears aren't pointy enough 5. His body is too long 6. And this one is really bumming me out....his "Certified Pedigree" Papers are not AKC but they are ACA and according to this person - ACA papers are just a hoax for BYB to pass off "bogus yorkies" to unsuspecting buyers. OMG - is this true? I love Sully and wouldn't trade him for anything - but I really am wondering if I've been scammed. The "papers" I have go back 6 generations and all list "Yorkshire Terrier"... What am I missing? PS - This person also said - he's an Austrailian Terrier. Last edited by Gigi485; 04-13-2009 at 07:29 AM. |
