![]() I have a yorkie form a breeder in missouri (ozark area). He and my vet both told me why my yorkie is already 7 lbs at 4 months old. It because the original breed was larger and due to the demand they are being bred smaller. My baby's name is Amos and I wouldn't trade him for a million smaller ones. He's a good puppy and I got him form a real great breeder (Grassy Farmes in West Plains Missouri). I also ask by people if Amos was a true Yorkie because he is so big. And he sure is a real true loveable yorkie baby! ![]()

![]() I was sure I already posted but...?? Guess I need more practice. My first Yorkie never got over 5 lbs; my new little guy was 10 lbs awhile back - and he just turned 10 months. Gus also has a longer body and nose - and is twice as feisty as Gabe ever was! He came from a breeder in Missouri - I think I read where others bought theirs there. Maybe they just 'grow' them bigger in MO! LOL I'll be back if I don't get lost again! ![]() Gloria

![]() Big size yorkie can be yorkies, but it is called poor breeding. Because back yard breeders just don't know what they do, this is why. Good breeder will never breed yorkie out of standard (they even try don't breed dogs who are 7 pounds, usually 4-6 pounds), and if you buy from a REAL reputable breeder, you would never had such surprise. Personally, I saw yorkies up to appx. 20 pounds, but you can easily say that they are mixes, although they all have AKC documents (please read the topic "the true about pet trade industry", and post about AKC' connection with puppy mills). Anyway, for those who concern about purebreed, you can make DNA test.
