Big size yorkie can be yorkies, but it is called poor breeding. Because back yard breeders just don't know what they do, this is why. Good breeder will never breed yorkie out of standard (they even try don't breed dogs who are 7 pounds, usually 4-6 pounds), and if you buy from a REAL reputable breeder, you would never had such surprise.
Personally, I saw yorkies up to appx. 20 pounds, but you can easily say that they are mixes, although they all have AKC documents (please read the topic "the true about pet trade industry", and post about AKC' connection with puppy mills).
Anyway, for those who concern about purebreed, you can make DNA test. |
