| My co-worker dislikes her own Yorkie! I've been worried about this little Yorkie for months! My co-worker doesn't seem to place as much value on her Yorkie as I do mine. She's always complaining about how much money Zoe costs her in vet bills, etc. She says she got her for free from someone, and she always says "some free dog this is!" A few months ago, Zoe had bladder stones and had to have alot of Vet visits for that and take medicine, then last weekend she got attacked by a big dog and had to have stitches! And all my co-worker can do is complain about how much money it's costing her!! After the bladder stone incident, my co-worker made a comment that she didn't know if she could afford this dog and might get rid of her. I told her not to do anything drastic without talking to me. I would take her in a minute. I re-itereated my offer after she was telling me about the big dog incident ( I just hate that she was ever even placed in a position for it to happen)-I said "If you really don't want to keep Zoe, she can come home with me-she would fit right in with our little Yorkie family". I think maybe this person is a complainer in general, but it really bothers me how she talks about her little "money pit". Just venting!

| Sounds like she choose the wrong breed. Do you go anywhere with her to set an example of what it takes to be a good Yorkiw owner? |

| I am really sorry to hear that. It must be really tough for you to listen to her. Ya.. and you are right that she should be more careful about her yorkie not getting hurt etc. But then at the same time.. I could also understand that she is getting stressed out from vet bills. Because money doesn't just come fly to her. But then... that is something you expect when you get a dog... My colleague who has a yorkie and a shih tzu. She loves her dogs... really really a lot bunches.. but she was really stressed out about money when her shih tzu was hospitalized for a couple days.. I mean she was free.. I wonder where this yorkie was from. I am getting a yorkie from a reputable breeder.. so I am feeling a little better about condition of the yorkie... but dogs can get sick.. like we all do. And I strongly feel that her yorkie will be much happier with you instead!!!!

| My DH just read this and he said it was very sad for that little yorkie. However he also said that I (meaning me - not him) would give up my first born child before I'd give up my yorkies - but I'm far too busy with my furbabies to get round to having a firstborn child. My yorkie babies come first. If they need vet stuff - they need it. and although I might complain a little bit about all the money - my friends, workmates (and total strangers) know how very important my furbabies are to me - without a shadow of a doubt!

| I hope you get to take Zoe home with you, not being nasty here, but she deserves a GOOD home... ofcourse i can understand her "money issue" but for goodness sake, if you REALLY love your dog, you do EVERYTHING for it... i know i would.

| Complaining about how much a dog is costing you in vet bills does not = no love for your dog. My husband complains about our dogs on a weekly basis. Who is the first one he goes to and pets and ga-ga's over when he comes home from a business trip?? Well it ain't me! Some people are natural born complainers. Complaining is a form of communication. Perhaps she complains to you because she knows you also have a yorkie and this is common ground for conversations between the two of you. Keep supporting her like I'm sure you've been doing. She knows the offer is there for you to take her dog if she can't afford to or does not feel able to take care of her. Try this...everytime she says something negative about her furbaby counter it with something positive. The fact that she takes her furbaby to the vets when it's ill is proof to me she has some degree of compassion for her. Good Luck! |

| Keep reminding her you will take her!! I am thinking she is reluctant to give her up because of the investment she has made in vet bills. Are you in a position to offer her some money to offset the vet costs? Maybe she would be more willing to give her up. Poor little one, living in a home where she is not spoiled silly...

| Adopting a puppy or any animal is like having a baby. When they're sick, you take them to the doctor/vet. It's' a responsibility that one is willing to take. She shouldn't be complaining about how much money it's costing her. |

She said she would definetely tell me first if she decided to get rid of her. I ask her all the time how Zoe's doing. She thinks I'm a dog nut....but I think she will def. think of me first if she's finally had enough.

| How sad, It sounds like she really should give you Zoe. Actually any breed of dog can be costly. If you are not willing to possibly have to pay large sums of money in vet bills I think that you shouldn't be a pet owner. Good Luck, try talking to her again about giving up her baby to you.
