Soooooo SAD about news almost my adopted Yorkie I am sooo heartbroken and with tears, I pass this along to everyone here who has been so supportive. For those of you following my attempts to adopt the Yorkie stray, when checking up on her this morning at animal control, I received this email: ------------------- Unfortunately, we have some bad news concerning this Yorkie. When our vet staff came in this morning, we found she had passed away. She had been eating and drinking normally up to this point, as the vet staff was monitoring her regularly. It is possible due to her age and/or the stress of the shelter life that the dog passed away. We're sorry to have to inform you of this situation. We do greatly appreciate your interest in this dog. It is a sad reality that a lot of times the animals we pick up have never been cared for properly and are not in the best health when brought into the shelter. Jason Oliveres Clerical Support Aide III 2580 West 1st Street Jacksonville, FL 32254 387-8924 www.jaxpets.org <http://www.jaxpets.org> ------------------- If I could just have gotten her to my vet ... I feel so guilty about not doing more ... I just don't know what to say right now.....sorry.....

I'm so sorry to hear about her passing, but you have to know you did everything you could. Also, she may have had something that could have put your Bo in danger so sometimes I believe all things happen for a reason. I know you had your heart set on this little girl, but remember there are far too many out there just like her needing homes, if you feel you have the time for just one more.

are you sure...did you see the dead body? i did remember reading on your post that you think they want to keep it to themselve instead of giving it to you.

| I'm so sorry to hear such sad news. Please don't beat yourself up about "could have" and "should haves". You did everything you could and it just wasn't meant to be. I hope this doesn't discourage you from persuing another dog. You have so much love to give and any dog that winds up in your care would be extremely fortunate. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks everyone for the caring words...they mean a lot. This little Yorkie was obviously abused and never had a good home. The mandatory hold period at the shelter would have ended tomorrow ... I feel so sad about not being able to help her. I tried to work within the rules but it wasn't enough. To my little Yorkie friend no longer with us: I apologize for the way your pervious owner(s), whoever they were, who teated you so badly. I mourn for you and know that you are in a better place... One good thing in all this is that I have learned what wonderful dogs Yorkies are and what a great caring community is here at Yorkietalk.com. Maybe I will adopt another Yorkie in honor of the little girl who just passed away...

I just received the email below from the Director of the Animal Control shelter. One bright spot is that this little Yorkie knew she had some people who loved her before she passed away. Maybe she just needed to know that before she died. ------------------------------------------ Mr. Williams, I was just checking on the dog's condition moments ago and found that she had passed away. It is such tragic news, she seemed to be responding well to treatment. We were so looking forward to sending her home with you. She was the favorite with the staff. We are suspecting a problem with her liver, but won't know until after a closer examination by our veterinarian. We are all upset by her loss. We deal with such a high volume of animals passing through our doors, but she is one who captured our hearts. I'll be looking forward to working with you again in the future. Dave --------------- David R. Flagler Division Chief Jacksonville Animal Care & Control ------------------------------------------ I am so glad that the staff showed her care and concern in her final days. I thank them for that. The "We were so looking forward to sending her home with you" just breaks my heart though...
