| I am sadden by your note but unfortunately many of these Yorkies that hit animal control are in very rough shape. We (Yorkie Rescue in our town) have been fortunate to have a wonderful working relationship with our animal control and they have helped us get some of the very sad cases out before the mandatory time. Even though we have gotten some out early they have still passed on to the Rainbow Bridge or we have had to end their pain which is a difficult thing to do. It is heart breaking to think people (owners) just don't care as witnessed by the shape the animal is in but we do what we can do to help many of these dogs. I think it is a wonderful idea to adopt a Yorkie in her memory and there are many great reputable Yorkie rescue's out there. If you go to www.petfinder.com you will still many, many available Yorkies who need a second chance. Some are listed under the national rescue and some are in animal control but I know there are many listed in Florida and with patience you could find a Yorkie that you could honor this little girl's memory in. If I can help you in anyway with rescue please let me know or PM me.

| You did all you could, but sadly it was not to be. I think it would be a great idea to look into yorkie rescue ,as you were prepared to go 110% for this little one it would be nice for you to put your efforts into another little furry friend.

| I have made a memorial page for the Yorkie at the link below. Originally, my Pets by the Pond site was going to be set up as a memorial site for all animals but last year's Gulf hurricanes changed those plans as I used it for animal rescue information. Pets by the Pond Tribute Here is a tribute poem I wrote as I thought about things. It is for all the sick, abused, neglected, and lost animals: -------------------------- I Know You Were a Good Dog Although I never knew your name, I know you were a good dog. Although I knew you only a very very short time, I know you were a good dog. You deserved a safe and caring family full of love and fun, walks and playing. I know you were a good dog. Your last chapter of this life found you on the streets trying your best to survive. You did the best you could. If your past was a past of abuse, neglect, and other terrible things, I apologize for those person or persons in your past that did that to you. They had no right to do that. I know you were a good dog. In your final days on this earth, please know that you were loved and cared about. When your journey here was finished, you peacefully went to the Rainbow Bridge. You are now free never to be hurt again. I know you were a good dog. ... |

| I'm so sorry. I know you were trying so hard to get her home, and to your vet. Don't you shouldn't blame yourself. You did all you could, and were very persistent in letting them know this pup had a home as soon as she was over her 7 day quarantine period.

| I don't know how in the world people can be so cruel. And to me yorkies are such loving and giving litle creatures. May she rest in peace. |

| Oh this is so sad. I'm so sorry for you. This poor little girl. Please don't berate yourself. You did the absolute best you could under the circumstances. Did you have a name in mind for her? Even though you never effectively 'had' her, perhaps it will make the grieving process better if you know that she had a name and that she was yours. I think she knew that she was loved and the staff in that shelter sound wonderful. So sorry again. Please let us know how you're getting along and I do hope you consider looking for another in time Lots of love, Annie & Badger X Last edited by Annie&Badger; 04-24-2006 at 06:45 PM. |
