| I have an Idea.... Last time I checked, there were over 1700 members on YT. I've been thinking about some of the posts that some members have put on here about not being able to afford vet bills for their sick babies. I know some of you will say they should have thought of that before they got a dog, but there are others who may want to help. My idea is to have as many members who would like to participate donate at least $5.00. Then if we have a fund for emergencies, we could administer funds to a dog in need. i thought the people who administered the fund would need vet documentation of medical need to release funds. Please add your thoughts or ideas to this post....I'm just wondering if this is a possibility. Elizabeth |

| Thats a really great idea. Especially for these people who unfortunately get a liver shunt diagnosis which is very expensive. I would be willing to donate more than once if needed to keep the fund replenished if thats what you decide to do. Again, great idea.

| We could also periodically have an online auction or rummage sale to add to the fund. I would be willing to open a bank account for the fund with $50.00. |

| Thats a good idea. I would donate that much also. I think if you got plenty of uses to donate the fund would replenish itself pretty easily.

| Oh and do you think this needs to go through admin. first. They could even maybe set up a section for it if need be.

| Good idea! I'll post to Admin about it right now. As for helping decide who gets funding, I suppose we got pm about that. I do think we would need vetrinarian documentation to release funds, as well as demonstration of need. I'd like to keep this simple, though. Perhaps just a phone call to the members vet for verification of medical problem? |

| That seems simple enough for me. I think if it is a fund anyone could use if they are in need the more donations you will have hopefully.

| I agree. Some of us have the ability to pay for vet bills on our own though. I suppose those who could afford the bills themselves would be honest and not use the fund, do you think? |

| Yes I believe so. There are alot of people on here with limited funds like college students and this may be of great help.

| This is a really good idea. I will be more than happy to donate for those in need. My only concern is that some may take advantage of this genrosity. But an excellent idea. |

| I agree that this is an excellent idea, and would happily contribute when my bank account would allow. I also think it would be wise to protect ourselves. Some of you may remember awhile back where a woman came on here claiming her Yorkie had died and she didn't have enough money for a new one. A very nice member here offered her a puppy, and come to find out, this lady wasn't being honest and was out to cause trouble. I think a good idea would be to call the vet, but also to confirm the vets' credentials if that it at all possible. I hate to be so cynical, but I would hate even more for the nice members here to be taken advantage of for their wonderful generosity.

| I agree that we must be careful of dishonest people to do this. I'm open to all ideas for verifying true needs of recipients. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks! |
