I agree that this is an excellent idea, and would happily contribute when my bank account would allow.

I also think it would be wise to protect ourselves. Some of you may remember awhile back where a woman came on here claiming her Yorkie had died and she didn't have enough money for a new one. A very nice member here offered her a puppy, and come to find out, this lady wasn't being honest and was out to cause trouble.

I think a good idea would be to call the vet, but also to confirm the vets' credentials if that it at all possible. I hate to be so cynical, but I would hate even more for the nice members here to be taken advantage of for their wonderful generosity.
