I'm just curious. If this check is from your insurance company for the damage done to your vehicle, wouldn't they be writing the check to the auto body shop that did the estimate for your vehicle (the one that communcates w/ your insurance so they even know how much to pay out?) and not to you?

I don't want to burst your bubble, because I'm REALLY hopeful for you! I'm sorry for your little Gizzie being taken from you so soon (it almost always feel too soon) and can't wait to her word on your new one!

I am so sorry about Gizzie and I know how you are feeling. We went through loosing our Yorkie last Nov. after ten and half years, it is not easy. We got another Yorkie six weeks later. I was so happy to hear you wanted to get another and when I read this post I was so happy to hear you are going to get one. I am so sorry for all the damage caused back there in Indiana from the hale storm, but I think your thinking is right on spending that money and getting another Yorkie. Suggestion you might give the name Haley some thought if you get a girl. Reading your post brought to my mind of what I went through last week, ( I got very ill, and was unable to eat for 53 hours, was admitted into the hospital and had to have an emergency procedure performed.) I kept praying for things to stay down nothing would, couldn't even sip water and keep it down, oh how I prayed and then I realized how often I look to God for HIS help when I need it and other times I don't take the time to Thank HIM daily for granting me good health. Didn't mean to get off track here but what you said about the Lord works in mysterious ways brought that to mind. I get so busy here at home and my goodness did I have to get so ill to get me to take the time and say," Thank you Lord more often." Bless you and with all the love you had for Gizzi I know God has a special Yorkie just waiting for you to love. Please post pictures and I will be checking and looking for your post that you got your new baby.

Dang, having worked in the banking business for 15 years, I was thinking the exact same thing...GOOD LUCK! I sure hope your company makes the check out to YOU!!

Welcome to YT, and yes, do your homework, but having another yorkie in the past puts you over half way there on your research! I have had yorkies for 17 years, and I still seem to learn something new everyday from YT!

Best of luck in your search! There might even be a YT breeder somewhere near you!

Before I came to work at the university, I was a legal secretary for many years, so I was not sure that we could have the money paid directly to us either. People at work said that this would be the case but I wasn't sure.
What happens is that if you have the money paid directly to you, your "comprehensive'' coverage will discontinue. The comprehensive coverage is the portion of the policy that covers "acts of God" ie. weather damage, hitting a deer, etc. It doesn't affect collision or theft, etc. Well, you learn something every day.

God is good. In my 51 years I have seen such wonderful things, even though there have been many bad things.

I was in an accident last fall...a very old gentleman (who shouldn't have been driving!) pulled out in front of me and because I couldn't stop in time there was some minor damage to my van, and to me!

My van was fixed by my insurance company and I received the medical care I needed (free, I'm in Canada), BUT...I received a cheque from my insurance company for home care and child care assistance while I was recovering from my injuries.

Guess what I used the cheque for?? I got my little yorkie Topher. The cheque paid for everything...him, his travelling cost, and his first vet appointment...to the penny!! Talk about fate!

LOL, Tophersmom! I bet God has a special place in His heart for those of us who love these little dogs as much as we do. They ARE His creation afterall.

Sorry about your loss, I know how terrible that feels. Congratulations on your future baby! You could name him/her Storm or Stormey......Just an idea, maybe as a middle name......you willl have fun thinking of names for this very special baby :>)
