| I am sorry that this happened!! Poor baby, does he resemble a Pit Bull?? Maybe the mailman got confused? I think that this is so sad, little dogs barks are worse than their bite. I would've reported him also.

| Winnismom, I agree with you when you say "You don't now what Any dog will do in Any given situation". My girls of 8 yrs that love me have snapped at me when I have hurt them by accident in grooming them, or Buffy at the vet that had just given her her shots. I still don't understand why he ran out like that, but anyone with a puppy knows how fast they run when they have a goal. I would have been scare too if I saw a little dog coming at me and I have visiting friends, but I stood still and let them smell me and carefully put my purse between us until I feel safe I know we were at fault and I said that, and he had every right to protect himself but spraying him TWICE was over the amount needed. I think if Duncan had bit him his big leg would have broken a couple of Duncans teeth's off . Thanks Winnismom Quote:

| Hey Devil's Advocate here. My sister is a former "mailwoman". She has sprayed a bunch of dogs who have chased and attacked her -- big and small. It got so bad that finally she asked to be in the office instead of out delivering mail and they let her do so. She had to go to the hospital to get a rabies injection because of a "little" Shih Tzu who was a carrier of the disease. I don't know if you all have ever seen a rabies shot they give to people, but the needle is about 5 inches long. Anyway, while it's unfortunate that your baby got sprayed, I don't think it's necessarily the mail person is a bad person for spraying him. They shouldn't have to deal with dogs running after them - it's not in their job description and they just don't get paid enough to deal with all that bullcrap.

| As a person who has lots of family members working in the Post Office, if your dog is running unleashed and outdoors, the mail carrier has the right to pepper spray them. Yes, it's ridiculous when the dog is like 3 lbs, but I don't think there is anything you can do because your dog was outside without a leash. (It's not as if the postman knows if the dog's been vaccinated or not.) It's also a lot of trouble if the dog bites them because they're supposed to report it, no matter how unserious the bite is. Also, I know if a dog won't run when it's been sprayed once, they will spray them again until the dog takes off. In any case, I'm sorry your baby was pepper sprayed. That stuff is a lot stronger than any regular pepper spray you can buy. I would just be a lot more careful about not letting him escape especially while the mail carrier is out. |

Some of us look at the paycheck and deal with it, some look at the paycheck and also bit@# about it and some of us move on when enough is enough.... your choice. Thank You, Devil's Advocate

She did say that, I missed it. I'm not sure the united states postal service would cover lessons from the dog whisperer! I guess what I was trying to say was that it was human error on both parts, but the good news is that the little one is okay and thank god for that. | |
