| Spaying cost My vet wants to charge me $329 to spay my 8 month old Yorkie who is 5 pounds. $53 is for 4 baby teeth being removed. Is this a normal price for such a small pet? |

| That seems a little high to me but the costs vary depending on where you live. My vet charged $140 and didnt charge me anything for the teeth removal.

| I think I paid about $280 for Pixie's spay. She didn't have to have any teeth removed though. If she had, I'm sure I would've been charged more. There was this thread regarding that same question. There seemed to be a huge price range. I think it went from about $60 for a neuter all the way too $700 for a spay.... |

| They quoted me around $250 so I agree with you on the amount being too high..

| Spaying cost Thank you all for your responses. Now I have to decide if I should spay my little Zoey or not. She definitely needs her baby teeth out but I don't know if I should spay her. I don't plan to breed her. I guess she still has to go under the anesthesia for the baby teeth so I should spay her and do it all at one time. I am so confused on what to do!!! |

| I would do it all at the same time. You might try a different vet to see how much they charge. I know it's different every where. Good luck to you!!

| If you are not going to breed her, it would be a good idea to spay. She (or you) would never have to deal with a period, and it just protects her from the possibility of cancers later in life. Healing time is typically short, it's a one time expense, and avoids you and her the mess and hassle of heat cycles. My pups are on a pet insurance so the spay/neuter is free! Totally worth it, not just for the spay, but for all the other stuff I get, and it's only $19.95 per month! |
