If you are not going to breed her, it would be a good idea to spay. She (or you) would never have to deal with a period, and it just protects her from the possibility of cancers later in life. Healing time is typically short, it's a one time expense, and avoids you and her the mess and hassle of heat cycles. My pups are on a pet insurance so the spay/neuter is free! Totally worth it, not just for the spay, but for all the other stuff I get, and it's only $19.95 per month!
