Spaying cost My vet wants to charge me $329 to spay my 8 month old Yorkie who is 5 pounds. $53 is for 4 baby teeth being removed. Is this a normal price for such a small pet? |
That seems a little high to me but the costs vary depending on where you live. My vet charged $140 and didnt charge me anything for the teeth removal. |
I can't help with this, as I haven't had it done yet......but there was a thread on this just yesterday, so maybe you can search that....there were tons of replies at all different prices and what was done. Hope this helps. |
I spayed and pulled baby teeth yesterday. My total charges were $378. Just the spay I was quoted $136  |
Thank you for your response. I'm moving to Indiana!!! |
wow hey im in michigan and up here it costs 140.00 dollers to spay a dog but they are right it depends on where youlive at |
I think I paid about $280 for Pixie's spay. She didn't have to have any teeth removed though. If she had, I'm sure I would've been charged more. There was this thread regarding that same question. There seemed to be a huge price range. I think it went from about $60 for a neuter all the way too $700 for a spay.... |
They quoted me around $250 so I agree with you on the amount being too high.. |
Ohio Spay $101 6 Teeth $11 Blood work $50 pain med $30 1st time check up $30 3 set of shots $35 Worm test $12 Heart worm test $25 This was my bill for Maggie at 8 months old 6lbs 11oz. |
Spaying cost Thank you all for your responses. Now I have to decide if I should spay my little Zoey or not. She definitely needs her baby teeth out but I don't know if I should spay her. I don't plan to breed her. I guess she still has to go under the anesthesia for the baby teeth so I should spay her and do it all at one time. I am so confused on what to do!!! |
I would do it all at the same time. You might try a different vet to see how much they charge. I know it's different every where. Good luck to you!! :) :) :) |
If you are not going to breed her, it would be a good idea to spay. She (or you) would never have to deal with a period, and it just protects her from the possibility of cancers later in life. Healing time is typically short, it's a one time expense, and avoids you and her the mess and hassle of heat cycles. My pups are on a pet insurance so the spay/neuter is free! Totally worth it, not just for the spay, but for all the other stuff I get, and it's only $19.95 per month! :) |
Well, I'm going to do it. Zoey's appt is tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1. I am very nervous. She will get spayed and have 4 canine baby teeth removed!! My poor baby!! |
